For modern, how important is remember exact dates for our national essay? Like if we were mentioning event, do we need to know the month as well as the year? Or what if i don't even mention the year, how bad is that? Worried cause i have a terrible memory

    Half Yearlys

Don't freak out, did you discuss this with your school? From what i've interpreted it seems like you're a competitor. I know my school is very flexible with rearranging exams when you have important obligations e.g. high level sports.

Ever heard of the quote "if you shoot for the moon, you'll still land in the stars?" Probs not the exact wording and a bit cliche, but i think it describes this whole ATAR goal senario pretty well. Keep working hard, and you'll still get a good mark, even if it falls short of your goal mark...

Thoughts on memorising two essays for discovery? Since i've already put so much work into writing both, i want to take advantage. but i'm worried that i'll somehow get them mixed up during the exam and it'll backfire on me. Concept is somewhat similar in that the quotes used can fit both essays...

Hmmm...It'll be much more effective than just reading, but maybe you could do that look, cover, write check technique so you can test what knowledge you've retained and what you need to work on? Tbh i've never actually done this cause i'm worried that i haven't actually remembered anything ahah...

Hey guys, I'm so confused with my essay topic sentence for each body. One of my teacher said its okay to open with context, but my extension teacher said we have the first answer the question. (Module A btw) Is this okay for my body paragraph opening, for the question: “An examination of a...

A question for any of you guys who do modern, Should i write my national study notes chronologically? i'm doing Germany btw e.g. Munich Putsch is a whole seperate point on the syllabus, but chronologically it should be under the first heading I'm just worried that it'll be confusing if i...

Thanks Frostguard! You always have great insight :) How are you approaching your essay? I'm not sure if i should write my notes on the What is History, The Historians first (slacking since i don't have exams until trials) or start on my major work.

Hey guys, need some advice here So i haven't started my history extension major work AT ALL, but since half-yearlies is only 3 weeks away, should i just leave my his ex until exams are over, and then fully focus on it, especially during the holidays? Or is this a dangerous move? Can't drop it...

    Scaling, cohort and internals?

Being the top of a good school is better than being average in a top school (of course this is more dictated by the marks you get which are irrelevant to the ranking of the school). Really? I always thought being in a better school would always be better for you marks?

Same, i was sticking to a good routine at the end of the holidays and during the first week, but the past few days i've been procrastinating :( I think i've gotten complacent cause half yearlies is 6 weeks away and i'm up to date on work. Struggling to find motivation to work ahead and do...

I can't tell if my private tutor is helping?

My tutor works as a sub (? not sure what exactly her role is) at my school. Tbh most of my friends go to tutors who charge $80-110.

I can't tell if my private tutor is helping?

Thanks!! I used to go to The Brain and they would pile us with loads of resources so i think i've gotten a bit complacent haha. Also, my class teacher occasionally assigns practise essay for us to hand in, and the feedback i receive from her is quite different from my tutors. My tutor is...

I can't tell if my private tutor is helping?

Thanks for the advice! Definitely agree with what you wrote about the positives of a uni tutor, but personally i prefer tutors who have a bit more experience in teaching. I'm also aware that uni students also have their own studies to focus on (my previous maths tutor was a uni student).

I can't tell if my private tutor is helping?

Thanks for the reply, but i've looked up a lot of tutors and asked many of my friends, and believe it or not, $80 is actually one of the cheapest i could find. The price isn't really an issue, my parents are willing to pay as long as it helps. Also i'm trying to avoid uni student tutors. Just...
