See I find that strange, as it's not like they're politically close together (I mean, Smith's far to the right of norm in the Labor Party, but Costello's probably centre->right of the Liberals). Are you more attracted to individuals than policy?

I'm pretty sure there's no way you can know the scheduling so precisely. But generally, both Supporting Actor noms are done quite early on. The last four generally go Actress, Actor, Director, Picture - though sometimes they may throw in Song or one of the Screenplay awards in between the two...

I understand epic as being a grand sweeping event. Which almost no film here is. The answer, for the record, is any David Lean film from The Bridge on the River Kwai onwards (yeah, even Ryan's Daughter - someone's gotta like it, may as well be me).

I find the idea of both terribly barbaric. That those who can afford are entitled to better education or health services. I do think that's pretty fucked up. Unfortunately, though, like all things privatised, it is far more difficult to nationalise them once again. One day, hopefully, but...

I wouldn't be so sure of that, given Costello being such a turd of a man who is hated by the electorate. At the very least, it's terrible news for Coalition prospects in 2009/10.
