Year 11 Selective Applications, Have I Messed Up?

Does your school put your marks AND ranks on your half-yearly/yearly reports, or just the marks? Outside of your English estimated mark, the rest of your 'marks' look impressive enough. Does Baulko have an entrance exam? I think your English mark would probably be the biggest concern (for...

How many hours of study for a 99+atar

Not really. It's something you either have more of or less of compared to others. Some people are just 'naturally' better at quickly grasping difficult concepts for example. However, you can definitely make up for it through other areas that lead to HSC success such as work ethic, being...

How many hours of study for a 99+atar

6-8 hours on weekdays consistently is in the realm of very very improbable (not just on a mental level but also, on a physical level) Natural aptitude/talent plays a significant role as well. Working hard sometimes isn't enough.

List of band 6- state rank language/visual techniques

When it comes to HSC marking, it's all about how you use techniques. Even band 6 (or state rank essays) are bound to use simple techniques, such as simile or metaphor or imagery. While I think it's true that state ranking essays are bound to use more sophisticated techniques, you have to...

ATAR Estimates ♡ Don't roast my ranks too hard p

Very doable. Aim for perhaps top 10 in English (so you'll be a good position to hit 90-91~) but top 15 should be fine for your aim, improve your 2U maths, 3U maths aligns AND scales so well (so your current rank is fine), definitely try to stay within the top 3 for Economics and do as best as...

ATAR Estimates ♡ Don't roast my ranks too hard p

Even if you got a 70 in Physics (which means only 1 unit will obviously count), the ATAR calculator tells me you'll still be in the 93ish range. If UNSW Commerce is your goal, I think you are already very much in a good position to get in (even without much improvement) - given bonus points.

ATAR Estimates ♡ Don't roast my ranks too hard p

Early days, so it's much harder to predict. Post-trials is a much better time. However, using your current ranks, the Top Scores website, an ATAR calculator, a bit of guessing and assuming I have the right school in mind: English Advanced: 16th/69 Assuming you'll most likely hit anywhere...

Is there a cap to the number of people allowed to get HD or D's in USyd/UNSW Science?

Re: Is there a cap to the number of people allowed to get HD or D's in USyd/UNSW Scie Even UNSW law lecturers themselves basically say ''we have to mark to a bell curve" - sometimes they might even show the grade distribution for assignments and clearly most marks are focused in the credit...

Is there a cap to the number of people allowed to get HD or D's in USyd/UNSW Science?

Re: Is there a cap to the number of people allowed to get HD or D's in USyd/UNSW Scie Both USYD Law and UNSW Law have a strict bell curve system. USYD Law probably even more so (i.e. slightly lower percentage for Ds/HDs). A good majority of marks at UNSW Law are in the credit region, even if...

    UNSW chit chat thread

    Re: UNSW chit chat thread 2016 Should be fine. ACCT2542 doesn't really require ACCT2522 stuff. I did 2542 2015 S2 and am doing 2522 in 2016 S1.

"Bamboo Ceiling": Where are all the asians?

Re: "Bamboo Ceiling": Where are all the asians? Yeah, I have the same/a similar thought. I feel that it will change/improve in the next 20-30 years as more and more Asians go through the university system and working scene. If we exclude any bamboo ceiling arguments: Generally...

    Commerce Major for Combined Law

Despite being a firm 2nd, I feel like for every 10 Commerce/Law students I would talk to, 7-8 would be Finance majors, 1-2 would be Accounting majors and 1 would not be an Accounting or Finance major. It just speaks volumes of the overpopularity of Finance in the Commerce/Law cohort. Finance is...

    Commerce Major for Combined Law

From my own experience, most Commerce/Law students major in Finance for Commerce. Accounting is probably the second most popular major for Commerce/Law students but I feel Finance is the most popular (by far). Finance tends to attract the 'high-achieving' students and there's many of those doing...
