    Need university advice!

I think the poster meant to comment on the sub-culture within UNSW of people who are doing law, rather than intending as a general commentary for every discipline.

    Does yr 11 actually matter

I think Year 11 does matter because it builds up good study skills, content and attitude that will set you up well for year 12, the harder you try in year 11, the less you need to change your studying methods in year 12. You can still succeed in year 12 without trying too hard in year 11-but you...

    Extra study for HSC

I think this is a difficult question to answer. But I think coaching helps with one's confidence-particularly as sometimes in public schools students don't get enough support/time/feedback from teachers and coaching can be just the extra bit of support and give more feedback to give you more...

I need practical advice for what I can do with my ATAR

I think it is better you try to get a qualification or start a bachelor in mechanical engineering in uni or tafe so you can see for yourself whether it is actually something you are genuinely interested in. I think having and keeping this attitude of working hard and focusing is so valuable...

Best / Most Prestigious UNSW Societies (Commerce Student)?

Often the best way to maximise your chance to get into a society is to get to know the people in the society first. Even if you don't make it in as a first year, you should try going to some society events so you get to know its executives and what kind of things it does in detail, and in your...

    Hard work vs. natural talent

I think those at the very top-such as 99.50+ has a bit of natural talent in studying plus hard work. For me, I did it purely by hard work, I know I wasn't really talented so I needed to always work hard to catch up and get ahead.

Cramming tips and strategies (9 days)

You can break the topics up into equal amounts, and learn a topic each day or a topic every 2 days, and do the tutorial questions and try to understand the topic, and hope for the best when exam comes, although to be honest, putting in a little bit more effort during the course would have save...

An idea - any feedback welcome

The problem with high quality answers is 1. Who is going to determine whether they are high quality or not? A lot of people who got high ATARs did it by rote learning... being able to remember answers is very different to being able to think independently of good answers. 2. Having one answer...

    Getting ahead in uni

I agree with this so much. In uni you will realise understanding what you have learnt is WAY more important than getting ahead for the sake of it.

    unsw dual law: law/actl

You can just follow the course guide for your subject combination, it should tell you what are the recommended subjects to pick. You should also pick your subject asap because particularly law has small classes, so the later you enrol, the less likely you will get a good class time that is...

I just think there is not much point if you don't end up liking a course and doing it for the sake of prestige... and there's other degrees that can help you get more money than law. I do law at UNSW, not USYD.

Hi there, I think there is a difference between legal studies and a law degree though, in the sense that legal studies is often a lot more about theory, but law can be more about what is in the actual provisions and going into a lot more depth into what the cases are. Yes it can get boring and...
