Definitely do context, however I wouldn't say it is as important as Module A comparative studies, which, depending on the texts you are prescribed with, is often about the evolution and transformation of social values and norms. Think of ModC's important context as those being relatable to...

    Hours for English (Extension 1)

It depends on your own grasp of English and the amount of support your school and teacher has given you. Personally for me, 3-4 hours/wk was enough and during the exam period, maybe just up to 5? I did a lot of research during the earlier weeks so it saved me a lot of time during the preparation...

I find that really interesting. Whether or not the conventional definition of a dux is better is up for debate of course.

UTS Law or UNSW Internal Transfer

Exactly what happened to me. I'm now at UTS Law and loving it. Still might transfer to Syd/UNSW next year for personal reasons, not academic. UTS is a great place to do law.

I would take a break. After my trials I took two weeks off. Sure, I went to school, read the textbooks, did the homework, but I did no studying whatsoever. Your mental and physical exhaustion probably means you won't be any productive work anyway, so why waste time trying to do work when you can...

Uni students, interns and graduates - share your story here!

    > How did you end up getting your first job after university? I had my first ever job this year (so first year of uni) if we exclude the whole one week unpaid work experience thing in high school. It's at BridgeClimb so essentially I take people up the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The funny story...

Nope. Didn't even think about it. I did 12 units so I wouldn't have came out well. Casual maybe. Definitely not part time. I'll be completely honest - never finished reading a prescribed text with the exception of Julius Caesar and sometimes my related as well. Obviously everyone is...

One part time and one casual. Having a social life is overrated.

Is it worth getting an economics tutor?

Just because it's a humanities subject doesn't mean it's easy and relies on merely ROTE-learning. I had a friend who had an economic tutor and still finished at the bottom five. On the other hand, the first who came person didn't have a tutor. Depends on you personally. If you are really...

I can relate to what most of you guys are saying about feedback from English teachers. Fortunately I had a great teacher for Year 11 and 12 and dodged the bullet, however I have had similar experiences in the past. I would suggest spamming your teacher's inbox for constructive feedback, or...

Hating Uni - wanting to drop out

Not to the point of dropping out, but within the first five weeks I honestly thought about deferring. I think it's just the sudden change really. Hang in there, you're definitely not alone. Give it a year and see how you go.

Feel like I am wasting time

^ +1 Practice papers and answer past essay questions before anything. You will feel so much better for the trials and the actual HSC if you are confident with the wide range of questions you have seen. Also, if you have any major work, get that out of the way asap. This guy in the year above...

Harass her until you understand then. That's what I did to my teachers. Maths is all about repetition. Do a large amount of practice questions in order to familiarise yourself with the different styles of questions they can ask on the same topic.

One person only? My business trial had up to ten people leaving in the first hour. For Modern History it was like ~ 5. Economics we had 3.
