Why are commerce degrees relatively competitive to get into. Especially at UNSW

The reason I emphasise the point is because a lot of people wrongly assume that a lack of positions/demand for graduates equals a general lack of positions/demand within an entire profession.

Why are commerce degrees relatively competitive to get into. Especially at UNSW

Accounting tends to be a more grad program driven field. Most Commerce fields are not - there are hardly any graduate programs for HR, Marketing or Operations. They are mostly driven by entry level positions.

QUESTION: Why does so many people want get into law?

Uni places for law have been growing heaps over the last few years. It's a saturated field and it is nowhere near the career it once was. If you like it, by all means go for it, but if you're in it for the money, there are better/easier options.

QUESTION: Why does so many people want get into law?

I remember reading somewhere that if every lawyer retired, there would be enough law graduates to replace them within three years. In any event, if Law is what you really want, that shouldnt put you off.

    Hiring Manager

Always try to contact the hiring manager if possible - HR/recruiters will just tell you to go through the formal process (aka the black hole).

Albury's only abortion clinic: protests 'push women to point of self-harm'

They dont. I just have a problem more or less with the "gender card" being played because ultimately in these situations, men dont fair much better. Most pro-lifers object to abortion because they see it as being murder and that supercedes the rights of a woman (as with many instances where...

Albury's only abortion clinic: protests 'push women to point of self-harm'

This is difficult to come by - I just dont like the argument, because it's a bit stupid to play the feminism card when men have zero rights whatsoever in the matter. If a sexual partner of mine were to get pregnant, she would have every right to terminate and I would have no legal standing to...

Why do people ignore/shit on arts degrees ?

To be honest, I thought an Arts degree was useless when I was at uni as well. It wasnt until I worked for a large company that I began to see how institutionalised uni/HS thinking is when it comes to jobs and the work world.

Albury's only abortion clinic: protests 'push women to point of self-harm'

I always scoff at the mass hypocrasy when the feminist "it's my body" argument is employed because it completely invalidates the rights of men. Equality is equality, not just when it suits you.

There is a hell of a lot more to becoming a CEO than your degree.

Why are commerce degrees relatively competitive to get into. Especially at UNSW

A lot of HS students have this misconception that a Commerce degree is needed/used for starting a business. Hardly any graduates use it for this purpose (whether it is even useful for starting your own business is debatable). Overall, Commerce is popular because it provides a person with a...

Why do people ignore/shit on arts degrees ?

To be honest, this is a by product of institutionalised ignorance and misconceptions from uni/HS students. It's true that Arts degrees don't provide you with much in the way of a specialisation or hard skills, but they do provide you with a broad skill set which can be applied to many jobs...

Is Coaching for HSC Really Necessary?

Keep in mind, deswa is very talented and there are very few people around who can achieve what he has. If you ask him yourself, he will tell you something similar (deswa does work hard though, but talent definitely plays a role).

Is Coaching for HSC Really Necessary?

It really depends on the person (i.e. talent, ability etc). Some people can do very well without it (Deswa1 for example), others cannot. Tutoring/Coaching isnt a bad thing, as long as it's utilised properly and not in a way where you are being spoonfed, because you wont last in uni and beyond...

    Laptops for Uni

Re: Laptops @ Uni Uni is very different to HS in that uni isnt as consuming - so you naturally develop more of a life. Besides, marks arent as valuable in uni as they are in HS - a credit average is good enough for most jobs and this is achievable for most people. A HD average is pretty...
