Undergraduate Medicine Requirements ATAR + UMAT + Interview

Just to note, I am only looking for rural entry scores, not the mainstream. This is because I live in a RA3 or "outer regional" area, which means I can apply through rural entry schemes at various unis. Thanks to the two above repliers, but they sound more like scores that people use to get in...

Undergraduate Medicine Requirements ATAR + UMAT + Interview

Hi all, just wondering if anybody here got into medicine or knows somebody who got in through a rural entry scheme or something like that. Maybe Monash or UNSW. University of Adelaide or Newcastle or Bond is fine as well. What sort of umat and atar marks did you/they get to secure you an...

    Maths textbooks used by you

Hey guys, just wondering what 3u maths textbook your school prescribes. I go to an average school ranked usually between 200-350, so we get the maths in focus book, which is quite basic on most topics. Still our 2u class dropped from 25 in year 11 to 10 in year 12... go figure!

Is the internal assessment mark really important?

I read that board of studies only really cares about your rank within the cohort and the difference between you and the next person. is that true? Say if I ranked first in my cohort for both the internal assessments and hsc exam for chemistry with 70% internal mark and 90 hsc exam mark, does...

    Help with orbital decay!

So orbital decay is a result of atmospheric drag, which causes a loss of energy that shifts the satellite into a lower orbit. At the same time, the lower orbit requires a greater orbital velocity according to the formula: v=√(GM/r). This means that the satellite is essentially moving faster as...

    Help with orbital decay!

There is a bit of a confliction between the jacaranda and physics in focus textbooks on orbital decay. Jacaranda talks about orbital velocity increasing at lower altitudes, because Ep is transformed into Ek, thus by Ek=1/2mv2, higher Ek results in greater orbital velocity. However, physics in...

Orbital energy, elliptical orbits- perigee, apogee...

So in the Jacaranda physics hsc book, there is this section on calculating orbital energy and a few equations for elliptical orbit. However, I can't find any of this stuff in the physics syllabus, so should I not worry about it? Have any of you past physics students seen any hsc questions on...

    Calculating orbital velocity, mysterious contradiction?

So there are 2 formulas for calculating the orbital velocity of a satellite, v= √(GM/r) and v= 2πr/T. If r was increased in the first formula, then velocity would decrease, while in the second formula, if r was increased, then velocity would increase as well. Can someone help me explain why this...

    Amount of Study Everyone does

I have been hearing little rumours here and there that some people in the top high schools do between 6-9 hours of study every school day and more than 12 hours per weekend day. Is that true? Cause that's insane! I go to an average school in the country and try to do 5-6 hours per night and...

    Rural entry for medicine

Hi all, just wondering if anybody here got into medicine through a rural entry scheme or something like that. Maybe Monash or UNSW. What sort of umat and atar marks did you get to secure you an interview? I talked to this girl who got 96.4 atar and got into Monash, no idea what her umat score...

    Humanities syllabus

Sorry I don't do modern so I am unaware of the amount of content in it. But if subjects like legal are low in content, then how could the BOS justify the huge amount of content in biology, and still scale the 2 subjects very similarly. Like I said, I don't understand completely how the syllabus...

    Humanities syllabus

I don't do a single humanity subject in the hsc so I had a look at some humanities syllabus out of interest. When I compared them to science subjects like bio and chem, what I noticed was a vast disparity in quantity. With science subjects, you do 4 modules, full of theory and experiments and...

    School captain responsibilities

yeah but that doesn't apply for medicine, at least that's the case for UNSW.

    School captain responsibilities

Can anyone who has been school captain in the past tell me how much work is involved in it? I was elected as school captain today and I am more than happy to put the work in, but I just wanted to know what school captains generally do. how much class would you miss? how many community events do...

Should I go for school captain?

Thanks again for everyone's support, results were announced today and I am one of the two school captains for 2015 :) It was a really great experience getting up there on stage in front of 700 students and more than 40 staff. I think my speech must have reached many people, although the jokes I...

Dropping 4u maths to 3u? or keep it...

is that 70 as in a raw mark of 70% in assessments? because I reckon I can get that but the amount of work that is needed would probably set me back for other subjects

Dropping 4u maths to 3u? or keep it...

To a degree, I enjoy it enough so that I can confidently sit down and work hard, but not enough that I don't get sick of it. And I can't and do not wish to drop biology. It is by far my favourite subject and I got an awesome teacher, and it's one of my best subjects. Plus I want to do medicine...

Dropping 4u maths to 3u? or keep it...

Hi all, I started 4u maths complex numbers about 6 weeks ago and I am already starting to struggle with some of the 4u questions in the terry lee book. I can do most of them but then I get some of the induction questions or some of the really hard geometrical applications, and I just can't do...

Help with a complex number question, please.

Express in the mod-arg form where θ is in radians: -3i I get that the argument is equal to 3pi/2 (sorry I cant do the symbol for pi), but the answer says that the argument is -pi/2. Could someone please explain why it is negative. Much thanks.
