    Cadetship vs BCom/BEng

Plus, you've got to consider what degree you want to do at university. I know plenty of coops who regretted their choice of the coop scholarship when they could have done combined law etc. You have to be clear on what degree path you would like to follow and select the options that best...

    Cadetship vs BCom/BEng

Disagree. Cadet > Coop. Coop has limited choices and punishes you for being too smart.

    Cadetship vs BCom/BEng

Pity this year the Business Cadetships got cancelled. They allow you do do any degree of your choice, including combined degrees, so long as one of them is a bachelor of commerce. So technically, if you could have done a comm/eng AND a cadetship. Damn financial crisis.

How do i prepare for co-op?

Whoa, chillax mate. Don't worry- getting co-op isn't as hard as UNSW makes it out to be! Extracurriculars are actually (in my opinion) quite easy - they are just looking for participation in maybe a few areas. I know some Co-op scholars who are not "stand outs" - i.e. they have average grades...

    Cadetship VS Co-op

Co-op industrial placement varies depending on which stream you get into (e.g. finance, IT, marketing etc.) But it's usually around 18 months, however my Co-op friend says that it's "dodgy", though I'm not quite sure what she meant by this.. To answer your question, I would choose a cadetship...

    first day worst day

lol, yeah, perhaps people are prefer the familiar...? I just hope that it won't be like that forever. Pretty boring if people stick with the same group of friends. I thought uni was about meeting new people, broadening horizons etc...not sticking with high school cliques :p

    Process for changing timetable?

Haha. Good point. Anyway, I've changed a lecture and tute and I'm happy with my choice. Not only does it fit better, but the lecturer and people there seem interesting and engaging. Roll of a dice really.

    Law seminar

I have no idea! We haven't discussed it in class yet and everytime a person asks, the lecturer says "We'll talk about it later..." -.- So...are we supposed to start right now? Can't believe it's due in 3 weeks! Wth.. P.s. Anyone going to law camp?

    Process for changing timetable?

Hey! I'm a first year student and I have had a couple of my lectures/tutes, but I want to change some of them. Provided that there are still vacancies, do I need to inform anyone that I'm changing my tutes? And is there a deadline to change them? Thanks in advance!

    first day worst day

Hey, hey! I'm a first year Comm/Law student too and yeah, you share all the same subjects as me, dunno about the timetabling though. Anyway, don't feel too bad. I'm sure if you are a genuinely nice person, you'll make heaps of friends - just give it time. If you want, pm me and we can meet up...

What is so good about UNSW compared to USYD?

Also the teaching quality is better at UNSW, especially for law and commerce. Ranked 1st by the Aus. government.

    Elite universities... :s

Thanks for clearing that up. Wow, congrats on getting into Harvard btw. How much would it have cost you if you accepted the offer? My American cousin said their financial aid is pretty generous.

    Elite universities... :s

Oh really? Is this only for international students, because Harvard eliminated its Early Decision program around 2 years ago.

    Elite universities... :s

Are you sure that you've gotten into Harvard for Fall '09 (I'm just assuming this because your HSC is 2008)?? Decision emails for Fall '09 entries are sent out on April 1 2009.

Any recommendations? What clubs are you involved in and what do you do?

    uni in america

The assumption here is that the Americans actually know about the universities here in Australia. And if they do, will they know enough to give a damn about the university you went to? A surprisingly signficant proportion of Americans don't know who John Howard is...

    uni in america

What are you talking about? The international rankings are only relevant in terms of postgrad degrees or phd. They don't really have an effect on the quality of an undergrad degree here in Australia. Like, ANU. Sure, it's supposedly the "best" Aussie uni but it's only ranked so because of its...
