    Laptops for Uni

Re: How helpful is a laptop at university? personally i'm a firm believer that laptops are pretty useless for lectures because it's so inefficient at taking notes/diagrams in most courses. eg. think of how long it'll take to do the following with a laptop and your standard office program...

How do you pick out the First Year Students

this man speaks the truth. just bring a lecture printout and two pens and you're set. one of my mates brings a text book and writes in it along with the lectures... whatever way you find most effective is good.

    Note Takers

it's hard for me to do it because the notes i take cannot be understood by anyone but myself :( i also take them on the lecture slides and expand on pre-written notes themselves as opposed to writing them on a new piece of paper as what would be expected... extremely effective stuff. plus i...

What books + 1st year tips?

prelim reading is for pussies anyway, it's essentially so you get into the "train of thought". if you do finance you could read the australian financial review and that would probably be prelim reading. my 2c

How do you pick out the First Year Students

nope, it's also much to do with the fact they are older and probably have more developed organs. i hardly drink, but $20 says i could outdrink a 165cm first year (being 190cm/85kg helps). i have a fat fuck friend who's around the same height as me but has the width of a door who hardly touches...

How do you pick out the First Year Students

this thread makes me take a step back and look at myself on an average day :D - unshaven - looking like i just woke up - ready to punch anyone who comes up to me saying "DOWN WITH HOWARD"/"FREE THE CHICKENS"/"DEY TOOK OUR JERRRBBSS" - shuffling to lectures 5 minutes late as there was a line at...

    I've just realised something.

yeah unilodge is pretty deserted. went there on friday and saturday nights and i saw nobody... and all i heard was the sterile hum of the air-conditioner. almost expected some little indian nerd to go up to me and go "I AM SOOO WASTED" while holding a mocktail in his hand.

    Jobs in Canberra

don't worry until it happens dude. there's no such thing as a rich uni student (unless you pay full fees to do law at USYD and drive your dad's M5 to uni every day). at the end of the day it depends how much you like spending and how expensive your tastes are. . i spend probably $80 a week on...

    FUTURE STUDENTS of 08

see that's the thing.. if you wear something too formal then you'll look overdressed and probably feel like a tool. remember it's not formal like a formal.. just imagine it as a huge semi-formal party or something.

Where to Buy Cheap TV's for room?

nah not really. the union court restaurants serve food that tastes like it's been made by a blind chef without a tongue anyway.

    Banking/ATM

ah yeah. i remember walking to the law faculty one day and stopped and wondered wtf there was a random ATM in the middle of nowhere lol either way Civic is like a 10 minute walk and it's not like you need your branch every day. (if you're a cheapass and don't want to pay $1.50 for using...

    Jobs in Canberra

$13 isn't that bad when you consider tax and super. i'm meant to get $23 an hour but i get jewed out and end up getting $19 gross ($2 super contribution, plus tax). either way uni students should never have to find it hard to live i reckon. if need be, have a firm talk with your parents and...

Where to Buy Cheap TV's for room?

i saw a flier at pajenka's cafe that promoted a thing the good guys had running... all ANU kids who have a loyalty card* receives 10% off all items. *any ANU kid can get it - it costs $50 for a year and gives you 10% off all items bought at the ANU union - that's most cafes/restaurants at the...

    FUTURE STUDENTS of 08

i wouldn't imagine it would have many people attending then. the ANU bar ain't that big and i doubt it could hold more than 200 people comfortably. or people know that $50 (the cost of a ticket) could buy a shitload of alcohol from woolies :) get 4 mates together each with $50 and you could get...

preliminary reading lol i tried to start reading my microecomics 2 text book but it was too hard, thought "ahh fuck it" and stopped reading after page 4 (and poured myself some rum) holidays drain every gram of motivation from me.
