UL is closer to Arts/Business and Economics, further from Sciences/Engineering to put it very broadly. Nowhere is particularly far walk. Although hiking to a 9am lecture when it's 5 degrees in thongs loses it's appeal pretty quickly.
I would advise staying in a college for at least one year, if for nothing more than to establish a network of friends. Uni Lodge is home to ESL students and jaded white people. UL is starting to get some community spirit going but it's still got a long way to go. Although next year's intake is...
Include whatever you feel like, as long as you haven't failed stuff I don't think they'd give it a second look. Although again, exactly how much emphasis they place on it would depend on the college. As far as I'm aware Ursies values grades more than other colleges and Johns values them the least.
I would've thought it would be more beneficial to take statistics instead of maths. Although that would depend on where you want to go with your degree.
Because finance is the only thing that really compliments it. I think most of the time it's a second degree to fall back on if they change their mind about being an actuary.
Commerce/Eco/Act Stud/Finance all need first year eco courses. And although it's subjective, I think the theoretical sciences would have the most challenging work.

You sit a placement test to determine where you start. So you could get put in the advanced classes straight away.
No, I travel from North Qld to ANU. ANU is great, Canberra isn't crash hot though. It's just a few years for uni before you can get out though, so it's not that bad. Nightlife is ok, just leave your class and sophistication at home.
