Do you have a locker at your school

You think that's bad. The lockers we have in Year 7 & 8 are tiny and they're $50 bucks a year.

HAHA same. Hopefully this year will fly and the HSC will be over and done with.

What's everyone thinking/planning to do in the "big" holidays after the hsc?

HAHA I agree. Most parents lie to their kids to motivate them. Others don't motivate at all. *cough* asian parents *cough*.

    How detailed are your notes?

I know with my notes, they aren't just summaries, they answer the syllabus point. That's why they're so detailed.

    HSC at TAFE: worthwhile?

Yeah you get that at most comprehensive schools. @holycarp!: Why would you want to leave an academically selective high school? At a selective school you would be pushed harder and to your full potential. Also you'd be leaving your friends and teachers. Also tbh, i don't think TAFE is the best...

    everyones studying? ahh

I didn't study in the Year 10/11 Summer Holidays - and I don't think you need to. My advice - enjoy Year 11 while you still can. Study - but in moderation. Don't want to burn yourself out before you get to Year 12.

How to use textbooks to write notes?

Yeah most schools use Jacaranda, mine does. I find it's a really good book and it's eyecandy as well. But yeah, if you feel like using study guides - then fine. But study guides in my opinion should only be used to SUPPLEMENT your textbook, it shouldn't replace your textbook, because most do not...

    Accelerated Maths?

Most of the concepts in 2U are really easy to grasp. 3U on the other hand might take you a while. I gotta be honest, Circle Geometry isn't a good indicator of the difficulty of Extension 1, because some schools (like mine) taught it as an option topic in Year 9/10. Topics like Parametrics and...

How to use textbooks to write notes?

Yeah - like my friend had it for her preliminary, but I think she managed to get a copy of Jacaranda somehow. Just get a really good textbook (if you go to a private school - you should be fine with your textbooks) and use that. I wouldn't bother using Excel, just get your own notes and use...

    Accelerated Maths?

Good luck with that. From experience, you should be fine with 2u - it's a breeze. You might struggle with Extension 1 though. But you can always sit it again in Year 12, and it gets a LOT easier second time round.

    Classes Before and After School??

I know teachers at my school don't. However they get compensated with like free periods and less supervision duties during the day. Also yeah - we do have extra classes when it's not in conflict. Like for accelerated maths last year - we had extra lunch lessons, so we could cover the content.

Anybody doing a science plz read

Most courses nowdays are a lot 'simpler' than they were 'back in the old days'. For example physics - there's barely any calculations anymore and it's all formula based, and I'm assuming Chem has been simplified over the years. Anyway back on topic - that would've been useful, but not...

How to use textbooks to write notes?

They probably won't come into use. For Year 11 and so far in Year 12 - all I use are the core text books my school gives me (e.g. Jacaranda Physics, Business Studies in Action, Living Religion etc). The only subject which I have multiple books is Maths. In my opinion, you only need 1...

    Accelerated Maths?

That's what I did. I was offered that in Year 11 and I took it up. The only downfall was that I didn't do too well - because I know from experience it's not easy. But you HAVE to complete the Year 11 course within 10 weeks so you can be able to sit the Half Yearlies with all the other Year 12...

    Truongs Maths Tutoring, any comments?

Re: Truong's tutoring, any comments? I am currently a student of Truong. I can honestly say that since I've been going to his coaching college, I have dramatically improved in maths. I believe I am a lot quicker and a lot more proficient at maths. Yes it is true that he hires ex-students as...

    Simple Integration Question

This may probably seem like a dead easy question for most people, but I can't seem to get it. Find the area of the region bounded by the curve 3x/(x^-1), the x-axis and the line x = 1/2. This is what I've done so far: Let u = x^2 - 1 du = 2x dx du/2= x dx also changing the...
