Study guides - are they really THAT helpful?

Study Guides to me are crap - unless you've bludged the whole year and have no clue what's going on 2 weeks before an exam (how do I know - because study guides saved my ass plenty of times before). But yeah - for proper study - just get a text book, read and summarise.

I was at Parra library - well - as I said before - I'm always there on a Saturday - so not much difference. I'm the asian guy with the bright red world youth day bag and the guy wearing black jeans and chucks. Shouldn't be too hard to notice.

    Pick up a subject now?

I don't think it's too late. As long as you haven't missed any assessments you should be fine. It's up to the school.

    Study Group

Yeah - that would be really awkward. If you do start a study group - best like talk to each other like on MSN or something before hand, try and get to know the group a bit better - then meet up. It'll be less awkward.

    Study Group

I think the only way for this to succeed is not to get everyone to alter their schedule just to meet up at one place. Better off if you find people who regularly go to a certain place and try and meet up with them. Like me for example, I'm usually at Parramatta library every Saturday and...

LOL - if the study group thing does happen - wonder how awkward the first meeting will be, or how you'd actually know who's who.

    School certificate in two weeks!

Just a little advice - don't stress over the School Certificate - most people will do fine. I didn't study - managed to get a few Band 6s and the rest over 85. Enjoy Year 10 and Year 11 as much as you can - I know Year 10 was probably one of the bests years I've had in my schooling so far.

What do you feel when you drop a subject?

I'm planning to drop SDD by the end of the year - once I feel confident with 4U maths - then I'll get back my study periods which I lost when I took up 4u.

    Physics + engineering + 4 unit maths

I'm doing physics + 4U maths... close enough :p I think it'll be a bit of a challenge, but scaling wise - it'll be worth it if I do well.

How do you feel after an exam??

I don't really feel much at all. Just a sense of relaxation that it's over - but I'm pretty relaxed most of the time anyway.

Yeah that is bad - but I guess because you're public - they can't reject anyone?

Ok we wont :p Nah seriously, I see it at the library all the time - all these Year 12s in big groups studying - and they keep coming back - so I'm guessing it works for them.

    Why is education a competition?

Why is education a competition? Because you go to school to get a UAI and the UAI IS A RANK. Therefore you fight for the highest rank possible. End of story.

    new english syllabus.. textbooks?

Well if you base your answer on what the teacher thinks - it'll be easier to prove your point. But then again - you could be regurgitating and it could sound really bad - so i wouldn't do it unless you agree with what your teacher is saying (which is actually most of the time for me). As for...

    Is sport compulsory?

Same with us. Most schools with a strong sporting background (like my school and SBHS) tend to make sport compulsory.
