    Media Arts and Communication/Int. Studies

It is extraordinarily easy to pick up - you don't even have to go through UAC. From my recollection its also based on WAM + Personal Statement, so your UAI shouldn't present a problem - though I've heard they're modifying that a bit. You're also right in that students don't study anything in...

    Weak research base

There's nothing wrong with using research to flesh out your raw ideas once they're on paper, rather than function solely as inspiration. So yes, thats fine. Just make sure you don't leave it too long or it will come back to haunt you. It is also good to remember your draft isn't meant to be...

Do we bring our parents to enrolment/orientation day?

The lines are huge, and it took at least an hour in the line when I did it, otherwise we handed in the slips, had a 15 min info seminar, get our HECS forms signed and approved (about 10 mins), enrolled into our subjects (another 10) and picked our time on the computers and then got our student...

    CAf Status and Enrollment

The latter is for students who started university before that date - they pay different contribution rates and so on (its cheaper for them). So if she started uni in 2005 or 2006 then she would go for the first option. EDIT: Haha, I must type like the village idiot to take this long to post.:p

    Orientation Day 12th or 20th?

You don't have to go to either, but there is nothing stopping you from going to the one of your non-dominant degree if you so choose.

    General UTS chit-chat

Re: The UTS 'Secks and Welcome the New Students' Thread A bridging course is pretty much 2 years squished into a few weeks, missing one session would be like missing over a week of work. So while its your choice on whether or not to jig it, it is certainly making your life harder if this is to...

    look here

Workload - there are 3 or 4 assessments per subject, usually one presentation/seminar, one short piece of work and one major work. Typical first year program is 4 subjects comprising of one media, one politics/history, one cultural and one writing subject each semester. Second and third year is...

    Enrolment Day

On the day that I enrolled there were a few people from later sessions who turned up early and lined up for the current session time but got turned away when they handed in their slips at the desk. So I think they keep a list of people per session.

Do we bring our parents to enrolment/orientation day?

Most don't simply because there isn't anything you need your parents to do, but its up to you if you want to bring them. If nothing else they might be useful as company while you're waiting in the line.

    Help with deferment.....

You accept but don't enrol, then send off your letter. Looking at the deadline I'd be quick about it if I were you. Source:http://www.newstudent.uts.edu.au/before/index.html#deferment

    Everything Science Fiction

In general, science fiction contains elements of science to some superior degree to that of today e.g spaceships, clones, mutants, aliens etc. are all conventions of science fiction (though of course there are many others). Fantasy is more based on rituals, mysticism, spirituality and the...

    Enrolment Day

As far as enrollments go, I remember that we had to go in for our booked times - I think we handed in a slip or something when we got there and then they directed us to the next step if it was our session.

    Enrolment Day

People who come earlier get higher preference for their timetables, however not everyone will make the same preferences as you. Also, you can fiddle with your timetable up until the middle of first week of classes and many people change their timetables frequently in the interim so its likely...

BA comm journalism / law ~ HELP!

Study of law subjects in the combined degree begins in the second semester, unlike the international studies people. You also may transfer at the end of the year however it will have to be through UAC which means you pretty much need a D/HD average to transfer into the BA Comm/LLB. The other...

    My Problem

I say there is little point in attempting INSEARCH as it is a college for those unable to get into university, and you already have managed to get into university. The prices of one year's study at INSEARCH are also more expensive than an entire three year CSP Bachelor in the same area. Also...

    BoS UTS Rollcall! Wooot!

It is quite possible that USYD has artificially inflated their cut-off for Medical Science, alternatively they could each have reserved a different amount of places for NRSL applicants such as yourself which may skew the cut-offs for NRSLs.
