    laptop suggestions

Don't worry - my laptop has integrated graphics, and I share 512 MB of RAM. It handles Warcraft III, Command and Conquer Generals, Call of Duty, and Counterstrike all fine. Just make sure, if you can, that you get 512 MB of RAM. If you can't, it's a very cheap upgrade (less than $100), and it...

    A...Question :P

Well, it's not 2-unit or 3-unit. It's more a "I love maths" type of question... sorry I can't be of more help than that... I_F

    urgent help: microsoft word

Alternatively, you can manually enter in the size in the same tab if it's not in the pulldown menu. A5 is 14.8cm wide by 21cm high. Plug that in and hit OK, and that should do it. :) I_F

He wants to play the occasional game, so that probably means Windows. Some manufacturers (such as Apple and Microsoft) offer discounts for students. Basically, you pay less money for the same product (the logic is you're a student, so you won't have as much money now, but if you learn hard, do...

    Physics Question:

Good stuff. It's great to see you getting stuck into things so early, but be careful not to burn yourself out too early. And Wikipedia's an excellent resource for all sorts of things - just remember to use multiple sources though, and not just rely on Wiki. :) I_F

Firstly, welcome to BoS! :D I don't think anyone's ready right now, 9 months out from the exams, but come October, I'm sure most of us will be as ready as we'll ever be. But there's still plenty to do and learn till then. :) As for working in study periods... you try, but there's so much...

    Circular Measurements

I don't think there's a formula to do it - you'd probably have to do a brief sketch through adding the ordinates, find the point, and work it out. I don't think 2U will give you a question like "Find the amplitude of 4 cos x + 3 sin x" - it'd be more like "Graph the function "4 cos x + 3 sin x"...

CPU Technology is running on the same spot

It basically got to the point where increasing the clock speed only increased performance by a fraction, and produced half again as much heat and used half again as much power. It simply wasn't efficient to keep ramping speeds up when it wasn't actually helping performance that much. Case in...

    Original MSN Location?

The default location for Windows Messenger is C:\Program Files\Messenger. To stop Windows Messenger from starting up (if Skittled's solution doesn't work), go to Start, Run, then type in "msconfig". Go to the Startup tab and uncheck "msmgs". Restart your computer (once it's restarted, you'll get...

    Graduation video music HELP!!!!

I didn't have anyone bitching at me, but I had some "quiet disappointment" expressed to me that some people didn't have much time in our video. Just tell them that if they don't like it, get over it, unless they want to either give you photos to fix the problem or make the video themselves. It's...

I cant post in the sell/buy section

BoS went through a funny sequence just a little while ago - a few posts of mine took about 2 minutes to go through, and pages took that long to load as well. If you still can't post there now, try logging out then logging back in. If that still doesn't work, clear you cookies and your cache...

    Circular Measurements

I think you're confusing arc, segment, and triangle. The formula A = 1/2(ab)sinC is used to find the area of a triangle, as far as I know, not for circle arcs. Anyway: The area of the circle is 49pi units2. The area of the minor segment is equal to 1/2r2(@ - sin @) = 1/2 x 72 x (5pi/6...
