    72.90ATAR and needed 73ATAR.....

No. You can get a maximum of 10 bonus points from the AAA, HSC plus and the access scheme. So according to your results, you would get 5 from the AAA and 1 from the band 4 in biology. This leads to a selection rank of 78.90. Also, if you go to a disadvantaged school, you would be elgible for...

    2009 HSC School Rankings

I wish the paper didn't discount school's with less then 5 exams sat for the individual subject rankings. I know for a fact that 100% of students in Maths extension 1 at my school were distinguished achievers.

    Parents reaction to ATAR

I planned to sleep in, then access them whenever. Didn't turn out too good though, my principal rang and woke me up to find out. Best in 5-ish years supposedly. Parents simply said congratulations.

    when do we get offers?

I know someone who has got early entry to UNSW. For the main round, preferences can be changed up until the 6th of Janurary. Offers are released on the 20th.

    Slightly Confused with UAC

The main round closes on January 6th with the offers released on the 20th from memory. I have no idea what those documents are UAC is mentioning. Selection rank = ATAR + bonus points. In your example, you would have the higher priority into the course, as you would have a selection rank of 89...

    72.90ATAR and needed 73ATAR.....

You are elgible for the HSC plus system at UNSW as well. If you got at least a band 4 in maths, the sciences or geography, you would get additional bonuses to your selection rank.

    okay seriously what went on

Alot of my people in my cohort were getting 20's and 30's for the trials. For the HSC, all got band 2's or better with less study. It's just BOS inflating the marks to make the state look smart.

    How many pages for Major?

2500 words may seem daunting now, but once you are into it, it is very limiting in my opinion. I would have preferred a word limit close to Extension II English.

    History EXT Timeline

Im my opinion the most important thing is to find a topic and a rough question. Most people also find this the hardest thing to do. Once you know what you are doing, it is easy to tweak the question towards something quite specific. It also allows more gradual and detailed readings over a period...

I wouldn't mind seeing the state-rank list. The distinguished achievers list is no benefit to me though. After speaking to my cohort at a morning tea today at school, not including me, it looks like my school did not get anything over band 5. :( For its dignity, hopefully school rankings aren't...

Is the whole site going to crash on 16th December?

Yes, I would like to also thank BOS for their upgrades. Although some of the errors pop up, as a whole, the website is accessable.

Re: distinguished acheievers list Don't you already know if you got a top band? That is the only point of the list, other then seeing your name in the paper.

Re: distinguished acheievers list This has been asked multiple times. Distinguished achievers list is the list of people getting band 6's/e4's. The state ranks should on the Board of Studies at 12-1pm-ish.

    hsc mark

Yes, the raw marks we don't officially find out ( you can still get them though) are used to calculate your ATAR. However ATAR/UAI Calcualtors are relatively accurate, as I assume they take this into account. Usually the calculators are within 1 point.
