    Early entries and scholarships

So far that sounds good, especially for what you have in school! Try to have more volunteering outside of school as well, which will definitely make your application more competitive (a good one is St John Cadets)! Just try to maintain a good report academically and strong extracurriculars! Good...

    HSC SUCCESS STORIES?

Friend was ranked at bottom of cohort at 10/13, ended up getting a 99 external mark and had a combined mark of 97 for a subject. Definitely can bounce back! Also I didn't do great in English for most of the year until trials, ended up getting 94 for Eng Adv.

    Selling Band 6 Resources!

Not Venessa but from my friends that do UNSW Law, ideally at least 96+ ATAR and 90th percentile for LAT. You can get away with a lower ATAR if you have a higher LAT and vice versa.

Yes, don't worry about it. In Y12 I messed up pretty bad for English Advanced and was getting basically similar marks (around 75%-80%) until trials where I got 90+ and ended up getting a 94 for HSC english. Don't worry, it might feel like a lot already gone so far but don't forget the HSC is...

    How to approach imaginative writing

There are lots of ways to approach this! Most obvious would be adopting the perspective of someone directly in the war (eg soldier) or affected by war (eg family or child). A more abstract approach would include being creative with the perspective (eg from an animal, politician) or even adopting...

Hello Forum, I would like to know the difficulty of attaining Band 6's for such list of subjects.

Yep, tutoring companies for chem/phys usually just make you do more questions to understand and solidify theory. If you have a good grasp of concepts and are able to practice doing questions a lot you will be able to do well and definitely get a B6. Another helpful resource is Khan Academy...

    UoN Medicine

Definitely. UoN is one of the easier med programs to enter, I know people who scraped it in with 96 ATAR and 90th percentile UCAT but had a very good interview.

Does duke of ed gold award help for entry into medicine?

Bonus points for DoE don't really apply anymore, you can only get them for band 5s/6s in certain subjects depending on your degree and these bonus points don't apply for competitive courses like med/dent etc.

Stuck with subject selection and require help

    1. Would definitely recommend advanced over standard, the scaling for standard is not great (and definitely not worth the amount of effort you need to put in). Choosing standard probably won't increase your interest in the subject so you might as well do advanced unless you genuinely believe you...

Does duke of ed gold award help for entry into medicine?

For your interview, yes. If you've done well enough to get into the interview with ATAR and UCAT, being able to draw upon your experiences from DoE will definitely help your interview by showing a wide range of extracurricular activities.

    Business and Eco

Not a bad decision, it's really up to your personal interest. There is no right or wrong when it comes to choosing subjects, as long as you are interested, that's all that really matters! Personally, I know a lot of people who did both business and eco, they didn't have any problems with doing both.

You're looking at a minimum of low band 6s or high band 5s for most of your subjects. For a 90 ATAR, you're looking at mid to high band 5s for all your subjects. Ranks and marks are hard to say but check your school's performance (how many B6s per year in a certain subject, which will then...

    Help!

HSC Ninja is probably the most accurate since it uses historical data. I would say the 2019 calculator is slightly inaccurate though, in my experience it overestimates your mark slightly but it's a very solid estimate.

Your HSC marks are adjusted and they aren't your raw marks! You might be getting 70s-80s but depending on the subject, it might be equivalent to a band 6 in the HSC. For example, scoring about 84/100 (raw mark) in the HSC English exam will get you about a 90 HSC mark (depending on your internal...
