    WindowsVista+directX10 leaving ur comp in the dust

    Hey lets insult someone for using a superior platform and trying to tell others about it. Hey that's logical. Superior in some ways, inferior in others. I_F

    polynomials please help

    A polynomial P(x) is odd, i.e. P(-x) = - P(x) 1. prove that P(0) = 0 and hence show that p(x) is divisible by x. If P(-x) = - P(x), when x = 0, P(0) must equal - P(0) The only time when a number equals its negative is when the number is zero, i.e. 0 = -0. For divisibility, when you...

    How are the 06's finding yr 12 so far??

    The workload isn't too dissimilar to Year 11 at the moment - it's still quite relaxed. We've got assessments coming up, but they're well spaced, so I have time to concentrate on each one. Not too bad at the moment, but we'll see what it's like next year... I_F

    Horizontal asymptote is at 0 From the limit as x -> infinity, the curve approaches 0 as it goes to infinity, yes, but the curve is actually 0 when x is -1 or -3, so it's not an asymptote per se. Unless you want to start debating about the definition of "asymptote" (stupid maths teacher...)...

    X1800 series to be available in AGP

    If an AGP X1800 comes out, I would consider it too provided it's reasonably priced. While my CPU might bottleneck (especially since it's a Pentium 4), as long as the game runs smoothly with some eye candy I will be happy. What's the point of 100fps+ if you can't see it anyway (except bragging...

    ATi on schedule to stomp back against nVidia

    Just that it was highly unfortunate for ATi that nVidia suddenly managed to pull the 512MB GTX out of nowhere. I know you like anandtech.com, and they had a very nice article link up the other day on how nVidia created the GeForce 7800 GTX 512 MB. Apparently, nVidia was actually sitting on...

    ATi on schedule to stomp back against nVidia

    I'm taking a 'wait and see' approach to this. R520 was supposed to be an uber l33t nVidia killer, and it disappointed. You still can't reasonably expect to get hold of an x1800XT since supply is so low. x1800XT CrossFire cards aren't due to begin mass production for another month, and ATi faces...

    X1800 series to be available in AGP

    I don't think this will greatly affect sales. If you don't upgrade your motherboard, odds are you haven't upgraded your CPU, and with many games CPU limited these days, it's better to upgrade all at once. AGP's well on its way out. I_F

    Enthalpy of combustion of ethanol

    To do this question, add up the energy used to break all the broken bonds, then subtract the energy gained from creating the new bonds. So: CH3CH2OH (l) + 3O2 (g) -> 2CO2 (g) + 3H2O (l) Bonds broken: 5 x C-H -> 2060 kJ 3 x O=O -> 1488 kJ 1 x C-C -> 348 kJ 1 x C-O -> 360 kJ 1 x...
