WindowsVista+directX10 leaving ur comp in the dust

You can deactivate Aero "Glass" and stick to the plain basic Aero. Besides, calm down. DirectX10 and Vista are both in early betas and won't be out for another year. In one year's time, I'm pretty sure integrated graphics will have improved to the point where they will be able to run Vista...

MSN Messenger 7.5.0311 is the latest version. Have you tried the "Repair" option in the Messenger troubleshooter? I've found that tends to work quite well in fixing my MSN connection issues. Apart from that, you may need to fiddle with your cookie settings if you can't sign into secure sites...

    Differentiation question

When f''(x) > 0, the curve is concave up. When f''(x) < 0, the curve is concave down. When f''(x) = 0, the curve is usually a point of inflexion, although this is not so with functions in the form axn when n is positive and divisible by 2. In that case, the supposed point of inflexion is...

chem, bio physics people! i need MOTIVATION!

I'm doing 3U adv Eng & Maths, Chem, Bio & Phys. plus HSC SoR 2 & Japanese Continuers next year. Somebody tell me that i'm going to stay alive! I really do advise you to drop at least one, if not two of those subjects. Trust me, you will not have time to juggle 16 units, and 14 is also a...

    Say No To Intelligent Design

I have to say that Xayma's skit is the funniest thing I have read in a long while. I also have to say that while Intelligent Design can go as long as it likes in the Philosophy and Religion room, I don't want to see it in the science classroom. There's more scientific evidence to support...

ATi prepares for slaughter as nVidia announces 512MB 7800GTX

I was considering a 9800XT before the 6 series came out, since the fx5 series are so crap in comparison it's not funny. Ah, the good old Dustbusters... :p I have nothing but the highest regard for competition. But when things start to sway heavily towards one side.. well I think dats...

    Grandpa sued over grandson's downloads

Hmmm... the grandson downloaded the movies, but the grandpa gets charged cause he owns the computer. Is this going just a little bit too far? I_F

    Yahoo ID

I use AOL Instant Messenger occasionally, but MSN's the most convenient since it syncs straight with Hotmail. Yahoo and AIM both require new accounts to use, which is irritating. I_F

    another complex number question

I was talking about kadil's complex number question that was in the form of a geometric series - I recognised that and so did Trev. I looked at yours earlier and thought "help". :p I_F

    Count down to the SC

!Solskjaer!, you are so grounded and well-informed for a Year 10 student that it scares me. Good luck for the future, you and the rest of the SC 2005'ers. I_F

    Maths syllabus ...

I'd recommend that you consult with a teacher/someone who's already done it at least once a fortnight, if not weekly - especially with 4 unit stuff. Some things you'll pick up much faster with someone else there helping. Apart from that, if you're committed and put the work in, there's no reason...

Yep, 3 unit as well. If there's anything you're not sure of, just check at CSU's HSC Online - Maths. :) I_F

    another complex number question

That looks like combinations? like in permutations and combinations? The binomial expansion is based on combinations. It allows you to expand expressions in the form (x+y)n. I_F

    Maths syllabus ...

According to my Head of Maths, the only change in the Maths syllabus in the past 20 years or so is the split to Preliminary/HSC course (20% of the Prelim course is accessible in the HSC anyway, so not much of a change). So you should be fine using those textbooks. :) I_F

Those are some nice pictures of the hairdryer there. :p But holy crap, 1.7 Ghz memory and 580 Mhz clock... that's crazy. 20,000 3DMarks 05 here were come... Yeah, you're right on the money there. Double slot cooler with the works - the 512 MB GTX will smash like no tommorrow. At that...

    another complex number question

    If z = 1+i / √2, find the value of 1 + z + z2 + ... + z20 I think you work this out using the sum of a geometric series, since it's a geometric series with first term 1 and common ratio (1+i)/√2. The sum of a geometric series with |r| > 1 is a(rn-1)/r-1, i.e. S = ([(1+i)/√2)]21 - 1) ÷...

ATi prepares for slaughter as nVidia announces 512MB 7800GTX

I feel that the problem with higher clockspeed is that it raises your power requirements and heat production faster than more pixel pipelines do. The GTX is a single slot design with 24 pipes, whereas the XT is double slot with only 16 pipes. I actually take the opposite view to you - I think...
