friend went to hand in her late assignment today but Uni closed - what can she do???

A weekend is usually counted as one day? I've never seen that policy before...

    Weird SAM result

Rafy is correct... some courses have been capped in previous years (i.e. a maximum scaled mark imposed).

    Request For Raw Marks Denied

Well, it won't just 'occur', it's a process that you'll have to pursue. But making the application is the first step. :uhhuh: One that might have been rendered unnecessary by the time you're due to apply... :uhhuh:

    Request For Raw Marks Denied

Well, it's not definite, but the current state of affairs does make it seem likely. Things might change before then though.

    rechecking

Use this version: http://www.boredofstudies.org/other/foi_application_form.pdf If you're requesting marks from this year, you might want to wait until you can be sure they've been determined. They didn't, but only because the Board decided to reverse its original policy and no longer...

    Some Questions

Uh, I thought I'd better correct some of those answers... insert-username, you might want to refer to this flowchart to see how things fit together. Aligned marks don't get 're-scaled' or anything like that. Raw marks get aligned, and raw marks get scaled. Two different procedures applied to the...

    scaling

Yes, it does, but not exactly as you described. That's the 'moderating' phase (and it has been explained in detail in the technical forum). Refer to this flowchart for an idea as to how it all fits together: http://www.boredofstudies.org/other/flowchart.pdf

    Malfunctioning Anchor tags

You've pasted your text from Word, which has transformed your quotation marks into other characters. Note the subtle difference: anchor=”header4” <-- Word's version of quotation marks anchor="header4" <-- proper quotation marks Copy/paste everything into notepad and do a find/replace...

    A few questions...

Mmm it's not often I participate in these things, but hey, why not. 1. Why did you choose to study law? I went through the UAC guide and struck out every degree which I thought looked boring or thought that I wouldn't enjoy for some other reason. Law was the only one left. 2. What do...

    scaling

The words "distribution of scaled marks" refer to all the scaled marks awarded to the candidature (as distinct from a mark awarded to an individual student). I hope this doesn't confuse you even more: If 2U people bomb out on the 2U exam, 2U scaling will be lowered slightly (depending on...

Consumer Behaviour survey from uni hosted on BOS???

It would be great if you guys could take part - Matt is a friend of mine and is a bit short of participants. It's for a good cause. ;)

    Multiple Choice Answers

Question 15 asks you to choose the area of law which is "commonly classified" as both public and private law. The answer is definitely (C) international law. Even if you (wrongly) believe that tort can be a form of public law, international law is still the better answer.

    scaling

That's how scaling for all extension courses is performed. Ext 1 distribution of scaled marks = scaled marks gained by Ext 1 students on 2U paper Ext 2 distribution of scaled marks = scaled marks gained by Ext 2 students on Ext 1 paper The exception is English Extension 2, where the...

    scaling

The students in this thread seem to be more concerned with "aligning" rather than scaling. As an interesting sidenote, the scaling for Extension 2 students will be determined entirely by the performance of those students on the Extension 1 paper on Thursday. Make it a good one. :)

You can feel free to post exams as soon as you've been given them.

What happens if you miss an exam?

It seems highly unlikely that anyone who is topping a subject would be in a position where they are going to fail the HSC exam. But if their illness/misadventure application was accepted, their examination mark would be set equal to their moderated assessment mark. This would necessarily be...

    Mark or Rank?

He's also right. :) The assessment marks are sent to the Board because without them you wouldn't know the relative differences between students.

    ING ad obscuring resources menu

It's because it's a Flash advertisement (and also because you're using an out-dated resolution). You're not the first to complain though, so I've moved it.
