    Really Worried... bad marks..

Go to User CP and look for a link that activates private messaging. It should be in there somewhere. Or otherwise look at the top right hand corner for info?

    Structure of ethanol

Those dotted lines give the molecule a 3D shape. It's showing you the tetrahedral structure of the CH3- and -CH2OH sections of ethanol. Don't worry about the lines. :p They don't mean anything other than the above. I don't know whether the thick lines mean it's at the front and the dotted...

What is motivating you towards those outsanding HSC results

Damn straight. :p Relax by light exercising, occasional TV-watching, reading for fun (instead of prescribed texts) and whatever else you can think of that won't get you drunk, drugged, injured or home after 12 am. Sleep is important.

What is motivating you towards those outsanding HSC results

It seems you are already motivated. Rememeber that as long as you give 100% through the entire year, you won't end up in regret. Whatever your UAI turns out to be, I can guarantee you'll be satisfied if you put in the effort. Some people are natural quick-learners and some are a little slower...

    im in a pickle

I don't think she's laughing at them, but I do think she's being somewhat self-centred for considering this a dilemma. The second guy has a long-term girlfriend, which means he's not available for her to choose. He might have a "secret crush" on her, but what he feels for his girlfriend is...

    Really Worried... bad marks..

If I counted properly, he has 11 units and can't afford to drop Chemistry. A good tutor would help - a lot. I owe half of my Chemistry marks to my tutor. If money is not a problem you should find one ASAP, or if you're short on cash, get one before exams for revision. I'm available for HSC...

    Help~Question

Oh and the formula for working out the molar heat of combustion is: ΔH = MCΔT Where ΔH is the molar heat in joules, M is the mass of water used in grams, C is the constant of water - usually 4.18, and ΔT is the chance in temperature in degrees Celcius.

    Laptops for Uni

Yeah, I can't imagine myself going home to listen to recorded lectures. I don't want to waste money on something that isn't worth it, so I'll see how it is when uni starts, whether people find it really useful or not.

How accurate is SAM? 2005ers, please come in

My estimate from SAM was 97.90, and my UAI was 98.20. You need to use your aligned HSC marks, which you don't have at the moment. Any estimate you recieve now are probably inaccurate as you've only completed a small percent of your HSC course. But it can be a guide as to how hard you should...

    Practice Essay Questions~?

Board of Studies has past HSC papers. The questions vary slightly, but revolve around a central idea, so you shouldn't have too much trouble answering essay questions in exams if you're well prepared. Yes, ask your teachers, and also friends from other schools for their trial papers, etc.

    Laptops for Uni

I'm thinking of buying a laptop for uni, but I have a few questions: 1. Is it common for students to use laptops during lectures? 2. Does it make note-taking easier or faster? 3. Is it a pain in the ass to carry around? Thank you. :)

    2006 hsc

Go Rivvy! Kill the HSC! I never did much studying during free periods. I only studied when I urgently needed to figure out something or was falling behind. As long as you keep up with your class and understand everything you're taught, you should be fine. Also refer to the syllabus frequently...

    love really sucks..

Sabby dear, I don't remember permitting you to construct your little love-bot under my name. And as for all the non-06-ers still hanging around, we're just keen on sharing our knowledge with the new HSC kids. Problemo? :)

    ethanol as a fuel...(urgent!!!)

Insert_username has some excellent points. :) I'll just add that in the past - specifically during WWII, ethanol has been used as a petrol-extender. Also, ethanol has a high potential of completely replacing petrol in future because our limited supply of fossil fuels will eventually run out...

    Testing ta Manufacturer's Claim

An example is Nestlé milkshake mix. I remember it said something like "mixes super-fast in cold milk" and I stood there stirring for about 10 minutes to dissolve just 60% of it. Of course, in most cases solubility increases with temperature. That was just a simple example. Other ideas...
