how many hours of study a week

This. However a word of advice a timetable doesn't work for everyone. It really only works for those who are very punctual. It never worked for me because the timetable would say my time on Maths is up but I just couldn't get off it until I figured out the problem I was stuck on as an example...

Is It Possible To Get An Estimated Mark For Preliminary Exams?

Yes, but as Jazz said your gonna need the appropriate amount of evidence .

HSC Subjects (what should I drop)

Which one do you enjoy more out of bio and business? Stay with the one you enjoy more. However if you enjoy both equally and your ability in both of them is the same I recommend going with whichever one is the highest scaling. However that is a last resort.

    #welcome #general-chat

I can answer the scaling part. Scaling wise they’re really below average. They don’t scale well. Don’t let that discourage you though. You should not really be looking at scaling when picking subjects anyway. Only as a last resort do you do that.

    Prelims hard?

Yeah I thought of this. I factored in alignment as well. My RAW mark for the HSC exam would've been something like high 70's compared to my 60 in the trial. That is a massive gap. I also used the exact same essays and they adapted well to the HSC exam questions just as they did with my trial. I...

    ATAR estimates

I would say definitely mid to high 99’s. Good job with those ranks mate.

    Atar estimate plss

This. Based only on the info you’ve given I would say the probability of getting a 96 is a bit grim. With that being said the band 6 numbers for each subject would help tremendously and could change the tide easily. You should still work hard and give it your all for the HSC because you could...

Who else had unsupervised exams during lockdown?

This is actually happening in year 12?? I would have never thought. Are you sure it wasn’t an ‘open book’ exam? I swear it had to be an open book, there’s no way a school would allow this.

Is It Possible To Get An Estimated Mark For Preliminary Exams?

Year 12 is a lot more formal. They can definitely give estimations in year 12. Rarely they may even give you a separate paper which I’ve only seen happen once because it’s very dodgy.

Is It Possible To Get An Estimated Mark For Preliminary Exams?

I think so. From personal experience I do remember a friend of mine getting one. However it’s year 11 so it may vary from schools. Best bet is to straight up ask your school.

Stories on getting a 96 plus atar.

What do you mean by stories? Do you mean how you got there?

    Atar Estimation please

Yeah @idkkdi's prediction is decent. Low ranking schools are really unpredictable so regardless of overall mark and rank the trial mark is very influential. With that being said even trial marks can be unpredictable with low ranking schools. People who got 60s in English for the trials in my...

    Thoughts on IPT

It’s not at all a good scaling subject. It scales quite poorly tbh, but if you enjoy it take it. I didn’t enjoy it myself but maybe you will.

    Polynomial question help!!

Well the answers have a,b and c as constants. So clearly is it not a quadratic polynomial?? Kind of by working backwards in a sense. Since a,b and c are real it must be a quadratic polynomial as opposed to it is a quadratic polynomial if a,b and c are real.

    Polynomial question help!!

Is this a typo or am I hallucinating or something from sleep deprivation? Because the equation given is a quadratic. How can a quadratic have 3 zeros??

    discrete mathematics

No I would say it is pretty crucial. Especially you’ll learn lots of theorems and what not for graphs that are useful in programming. Now with that being said it’s nothing you can’t learn yourself. To be honest I wouldn’t have found it that hard to learn the relevant material for the comp...

    discrete mathematics

I liked it for the most part. It focused a quite a bit on problem solving and logic. Its a bit different to your sort of ‘normal’ math courses. It’s a different type of maths and for the most part pretty enjoyable. Only thing I hate about it is like truth tables.

Software Design & Development preliminary past paper

Yeah there really aren't any prelim papers out there for SDD. I recommend just practicing HSC level papers but make sure you know what questions are in the scope of Prelim and what aren't. That's pretty much what I did in year 11.
