Keep in mind that with niche degrees, there's less flexibility with classes because the cohort size will be lower.
Of course, this depends on the units you choose for each semester.
I recommend that you try not to rely on palm cards as much as possible.
Once you start university, there's an expectation that you won't need palm cards. If you require aids, usually a visual presentation will suffice.
Not sure about your particular degree, but my WAM was only calculated for Year 2-4. None of Year 1 was counted.
Have a good read of the uni handbook for your faculty to see the fine print for your degree.

I reckon going for the advanced courses would be the best imo.
Learning day-to-day excel is very simple but getting a good idea of the advanced features (+VB) would be super handy.
I had to do one of those checks while working with USYD.
Basically you just fill in a form and then the employer sends it to the Police so they can check your details against their records iirc.
