    International Business?

Hmm have they changed much? I did those subjects when IBUS was a seperate school (so I did I think IBUS1101, 1102 and 2101...dunno what the equivalents are now)

    Finance is crap

On Q3 - you can get both, but seriously, why? it'd be almost like doing a B.Com at UNSW, then deciding to do a B.Business at UTS after that. The CA program itself is quite hard and I'm still getting used to the workload. I've gone from distinction average at uni to barely passing the CA...

    B.Economics - choosing courses/subjects for ICAA requirements

The other LEGT courses require you to pass LEGT1711, so you'll see them next semester onwards I guess. A word of caution though, I've heard that if you do a subject that exceeds the UoC for the degree (is it still 144 for commerce?) then you pay full fee? Might want to clarify with the uni on that.

    International Business?

I did a few International Business subjects in my commerce degree and they were among my favourite subjects cause what you learn is actually interesting (as opposed to the I guess dryness of accounting or finance). As a major...it's probably not as practical.

What impact does a PC in QMB have on somebody doing a CA?

You are only allowed a maximum of two conceeded passes from the prereq subjects required to enrol in the CA program, from memory.

    Need degree advise BIG TIME...

I agree to a certain extent, and seriously, work experience at a big firm/corporate is such an advantage over someone with none. At EY for example, trainees who do the full two year work full time/two years full time uni come back not as grad accountants but as an experienced accountant, and as...

UNSW vs. UTS which is better Must decide quickly!!

Why bother with Law and another two years studying if you don't intend to pursue it later in life? I reckon BAcc for the experience. I've worked with a couple of BAcc kids and its basically like a free ride into a major firm/company. Impress and do well in the six months you're working there and...

Career Pathways, Job Security and Lifestyle...

When there is mention of a "shortage of accountants", most of the time it means qualified accountants (i.e. CA/CPA qualified)

    CA, CPA, CFA helppp

Take some time to research what is the better valued qualification in Europe (scandinavia in particular) before making the decision on CA v CPA. From my understanding the CA is a more rounded business qualification, whereas the CPA is more an accounting focused qualification (I'm currently doing...

How useful is the CA for non accounting jobs?

Do any jobs fit your description? Tell me and I'll join you I thought rec monkeys have reasonable hours? (I deal with them everyday, and they're always gone when I need their help) I say stick out in your role for a couple of years, get qualified, move to a senior position then leave - you...

BRW Top 100 Accounting Firms 2007 and 2008

Re: BRW Top 100 Accounting Firms 2007 Yes, but they've lost the audit...so no amount of consulting/tax work will make up the shortfall in revenue.

EY would have made offers for any TMP potentials a couple of weeks ago...they usually call you up straight after the assessment centre.

BRW Top 100 Accounting Firms 2007 and 2008

Re: BRW Top 100 Accounting Firms 2007 I can't imagine losing CBA to PwC would be beneficial to EY's revenue

    Accounting firm - promotions

Pfft bonuses? what are they? (read: EY is stingy) The only "bonus" juniors would usually receive are in the form of an increased salary on top of the "norm" for your year level, based on performance rating (i.e. what seremify was saying earlier)

Travel on the job at Big 4

Seniors I work with in my division have gone to places such as India for 3 weeks to train EY Bangalore staff on US SOX-type work...to Macau to check out PBL's casino, and to the Cayman Islands for some dodgy job. Those I the direct experiences I know of, so you may be lucky enough!

    The Official 2007 AFL Thread

I hate to draw on history, but you only have to look at last year and see that Adelaide were in fact 13-2 after Round 15 with a % of 170. Just pray the injury curse doesn't strike :p .. or Nick Davis doesn't pop up near the end of a tight final against maybe Sydney ;)
