    Predictions for Chemistry 2014 HSC?

    Why?? :S

    Predictions for Chemistry 2014 HSC?

Hi guys serious question regarding all prac Q's: How do you know the volumes of liquids to add? Do you make it up?? destroyed
  3. Q

    Predictions for Chemistry 2014 HSC?

Shoulda added some bases for funs. OMG IM back from the BOS trials I feel so good to be in the chemistry realm again
  4. Q

    Predictions for Chemistry 2014 HSC?

Is there a 2013 one? o_o or other years
  5. Q

    Predictions for Chemistry 2014 HSC?

Just to clarify what I was saying before about assuming initial pH = 7, suppose the question was changed from Ba(OH)2 + HNO3 to Ba(OH)2 + CH3COOH. The equivalent point of strong base + weak acid would not be 7 but on the basic side which makes the calculation a lot more complex Edit: Nvm I...
  6. Q

    Predictions for Chemistry 2014 HSC?

Okay I got their answer that's good :)
  7. Q

    Predictions for Chemistry 2014 HSC?

So in this question its 1 sig fig right? Okay hold on let me do it
  8. Q

    Predictions for Chemistry 2014 HSC?

In HSC, how many sig figs do they want? And yes, is that wrong? After titration (which is 1st part), then pH of mixture = 7. So then I just need to calculate how many OH ions from the spillage of Ba(OH)2 from which I can then determine the pOH and thus pH
  9. Q

    Predictions for Chemistry 2014 HSC?

Just some Q's, are all our final answers meant to be in 1 sig fig? Also, for last part am I allowed to assume that the equivalent point of a strong acid + strong base titration has a pH of 7? (i.e. initial pH of mixture = 7)
  10. Q

    BCS

No need to know BCS theory? Hooray -_-
  11. Q

    Predictions for Chemistry 2014 HSC?

Lol yeah maybe. But then what was the point of all whole Q :P No calculations? Let's just say dodgy Q
  12. Q

    Predictions for Chemistry 2014 HSC?

I said it was poorly worded because it's not solvable. Did you perhaps mean K = 1? And also an equilibrium equation instead of an equality? Take a screenshot of the Q -_-
  13. Q

    Predictions for Chemistry 2014 HSC?

    Poorly worded Edit: What's 1K?
  14. Q

    Predictions for Chemistry 2014 HSC?

But which ones? You're telling me there's only one way to form NH4Cl? PSHHHHHHH SAFEST bet is to put in brackets (e.g. HCl) instead of what I see you guys doing i.e. 100% from HCl
  15. Q

    Predictions for Chemistry 2014 HSC?

Well it's not accurate because it assumes the origin of the constituent ions. Sometimes its not about following what others have done but standing your own grounds. CREATE CHANGE IN THE WORLD YOUNG ONES!!
  16. Q

    Predictions for Chemistry 2014 HSC?

Oh crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I said NH4+ is a strong conj. acid of a weak base T__T It's actually weak conj. acid of a weak base hahaha (your solution made me realise my misunderstanding). Thanks enigma_1
  17. Q

    Predictions for Chemistry 2014 HSC?

THIS IS THE PROBLEM IM HAVING. You are assuming something. How do you know NH4+ comes from ammonia and Cl- comes from hydrochloric acid? That is just one example. If you write that in your exam solution I'm sure you'd lose marks
  18. Q

    Predictions for Chemistry 2014 HSC?

Noob question but someone write a perfect explanation for why NH4Cl is a weak acid (2 marks)
  19. Q

    Predictions for Chemistry 2014 HSC?

I meticulously read all 534 posts of yours and took down notes. /Realism
  20. Q

    Predictions for Chemistry 2014 HSC?

Yes and she goes to some rural school and is rank 1st in everything and achieved dux :headbang:
