    Does God exist?

Should I have said "yes, IMO" ? I clearly wasn't trying to back it up because what I said was an opinion, not an attempt to dispel your beliefs or prove that you are wrong. I do, however, love the fact that you feel the need to attack someone who believes just because you're an atheist. Does it...

What are YOUR privileges for being a senior at YOUR school?

Every second friday off sounds pretty nice, and definitely a standout bonus to being in Yr 12. As for the last point, I'm noticing that too. I skip classes quite often now, for one reason or another, and they don't usually care. I get so much more work done when I don't have to listen to some...

    Marcus Einfeld

I'm starting to come round now, but in the end the punishment was too harsh, and he shouldn't have been made a scapegoat. One year does sound much more suitable. Maybe I worded that wrong. I meant that this sentence aimed to deter others, based on the notion that he deliberately tried to...

    Marcus Einfeld

That's the point - he deserves punishment, but to what extent? It's pretty stupid to say that because of one mistake that he is liable to absolutely any punishment that "comes to him". I just think the punishment was too harsh, and the aims would have been effectively met with a community...

    Marcus Einfeld

I actually said the exact opposite of that. The first lie was a mistake. The story he concocted was told in the hope that it would not be investigated. Had he told the truth after this, the sentence would have been approx one and a half years. He obviously tries to cover this up, and avoid...

    Marcus Einfeld

Well this is where we disagree. Surely you can see that Einfeld's lie was a mistake initially, which snowballed out of control. I doubt, especially with his knowledge of the consequences, that any sane person would risk three years jail for a $77 fine. In my opinion, it was not a premeditated...

    Ambigous ending to Blade Runner

Ted Hughes - The Birthday Letters

Wow. I realised later, but I still can't believe that mistake of mine. :spzz: In the thread that I made nonetheless. Ridiculous embarassment aside, the help has been very good. Thanks to rockyroad as well, as the context is always helpful and it seems as though their relationship was...

    Marcus Einfeld

Exactly. What is this punishment achieving? Some people seem to be saying that precedent should have been followed in this case (as it was), but why blindly follow this principle when a community service order and a suspended would have achieved the same outcome (who could honestly say that...

Teacher marked me too high.. by mistake.

Tell the teacher if you feel guilty. You're honesty will put you in their good books anyway, and in the future they will be subconsciously aware of what you did and will favour you when marking.

Ted Hughes - The Birthday Letters

We did Romulus last year, for Belonging, which althought is quite boring, it has some good content. I'm also just finishing up Blade Runner / Frankenstein, which is much more interesting and easy to talk about.
