Is English the hardest language to learn?

English isn't hard to learn at all compare to other languages. There are people who came from Middle eastern countries with barely any English but after attending intensive English centres for 3 months, they can pretty much converse with others in English.

    Importance of universities regarding employment

University reputation is VERY important. Even if you are a HD student at UTS, UWS etc, don't forget that you're competing with other HD students from USYD, UNSW, Melbourne and other GO8 unis. So when it comes to limited positions available and everyone has the same ability, then university...

    What's the deal with Arts?

Arts is pretty much useless tbh, only a very small amount of people land on the jobs they desire. I know 2 people who had arts degrees, one did education/arts, ended up being a teacher and told me the arts component of her degree was pretty much useless, and the other one, after doing a straight...

What do I do if i got no formal date?

I agree with this. The whole formal-date thing is just so overrated. I went to the formal and hang out with my mates and I had a great time. Plus, the food was delicious as well. Hehe

does unsw look at your year 12 subjects or just your atar?

I have friends who did 4u maths and they still find engineering hard... 2u and 3u maths in not enough to cope with engineering at all.

    UNSW B-Comm or UTS =-Business?

Definitely UNSW B Comm. UNSW is reputable for its business degree. There are also more networking opportunities in UNSW with the top firms compared to UTS, UTS is not known for its business degrees. It's more known for engineering, fashion design etc

    Actuarial Studies

No offence, but sorry to get your hopes down a bit.. Even if you have the atar for actuarial studies, you can definitely get into it, but the concerning part is, can you pass and graduate? As I know a few people who have achieved E4 in 4u maths, and they still find it difficult and struggle in...

School is a waste of time?

In Asian countries it works the opposite way, the bright ones also go into teaching. And teachers at selective schools need to have at least a masters degree or honours in order to be employed.

School is a waste of time?

Agree with this. The bright ones aka HSC high achieves all flock to medicine, law, engineering. Leaving the crap ones being school teachers. How do you EXPECT someone to aim high, do well and be inspired to achieve 99+ when ip the teacher teaching them can't even get an atar of 80... Gosh, I...

Is it possible to study for a maths exam in one day?

If you're in year 11 and 12 , then you're screwed. If you're just in year 10, you'll be fine.

    Failing Maths- what to do?

You're still in year 11 , you still have hope. Start right now. Go back to the basics and work your way up. Start from textbook questions and then do HSC past papers and trial papers.

    To drop 11th unit?

Just keep it. Ext 1 maths scales well compared to your other subjects. There's a friend who dropped ext 1 maths, and during the HSC, stuffed up one of the subjects in the 10 units and got a really bad atar. If that person were to keep ext 1 maths, their atar would be far better than the atar...

What absurd things have people done in your school due to competition and rivalry?

There are an infinite list of examples of these kind of people, but to name a few examples which actually do piss people off: 1. There's this girl in my grade who goes to the same tutoring as this other person, but when the other person missed tutoring lessons due to illness, she wouldn't lend...

Stay at Macquarie or transfer to UNSW

If its inconvenient for you, TRANSFER. In the end it's taking advantage of what's available for you in uni. Also, both USYD and UNSW are more reputable unis, and since you live closer to them, there is nothing to loose to transfer.

What would you change about the HSC and why?

I agree with this. The HSC is already a minor competition on the whole scale of life, if you can't even cope with this, then how do you cope with even more vicious and fierce competition in the future such as fighting for positions to get into the top company, gaining HDs in top universities...

What would you change about the HSC and why?

I will standardized the language courses. Probably scrap away the background speakers and heritage courses in Asian languages. As I do not see the point in the Boardofstudies creating so many different levels in Asian languages but for European languages such as French, the background speakers...
