    Assesment mark VS Assesment Rank

Not really. Only your assessment mark is moderated anyway. Your exam mark remains unchanged. You can test it out yourself: http://www.boredofstudies.org/moderate.php

How do we determine our aligned marks?

We have (temporarily) mirrored a handful of the standards packages on this site: http://www.boredofstudies.org/mirror/

why is there no entertainment course?

Yes, Entertainment Industry is a Board-developed course and can contribute towards a UAI. The Board has developed a specimen exam for it (which is available on their website).

why is there no entertainment course?

The Entertainment Industry course is new. You will be the first students to take it for the HSC. Hence there aren't any past statistics available for the course - and SAM needs past statistics.

    Preference Changing.

You can change your preferences as many times as you like until the deadline for each round of offers. It's free. The receipt number is for you to use to confirm your change of preferences in case their system gets it wrong.

    Bio Hsc Responses

The reason why no marks are lost for writing beyond the lines allocated for the response is because the markers assume that you have already penalised yourself by spending too much time on that question - time that could have been spent earning marks elsewhere in the paper.

    Where to get standards packages?

You can access some of them (temporarily) on our website: http://www.boredofstudies.org/mirror/

    Aligning vs moderating

The standard deviations of the distributions of raw marks would have fluctuated, just as the raw standard deviations would be doing so now (even though we don't know them). But for the Board's reported marks - the old equivalent of our aligned marks - yes, the marks for 2U courses were...

    Exam responses...

Responses weren't published for every question - it's quite possible that they don't exist. Follow Sunny's advice. :)

    Explanation of HSC Marks (Moderating)

Yes, you're correct - there is a small bug where more than one student has the bottom exam mark, and that exam mark is substantially less than what was to be expected on the basis of the distribution of assessment marks. You can get around it by just making the marks slightly different so...

    Raw Marks In Trials

The only 'hard data' we have has been published in this thread. Students who graduated last year or the year before might be able to give you some very rough guesses... though this is hard to do with the 'subjective' courses (e.g. English).

    Maths Seminar

It's not going to be 'too late' - stop fretting. If you want to cancel, just don't turn up and we can work it out later.

    Possible bug?

Who knows. I'd probably just copied my standard sort for multi-dimensional arrays from somewhere else.

    Maths Seminar

Guys, we're not unreasonable. If you really want to cancel your booking, you can. We'll refund whatever you paid. We're not trying to cheat you. The 2U seminar is still going ahead, and the content has turned out to be quite good. It's proving to be rather difficult for us to keep up...

    Aligning vs moderating

They might not modify the process, but they would at least justify it for you. The standard deviation of a distribution is the average distance of each score from the mean. For example, a standard deviation of 6.0 means that, on average, each score in the distribution was six points away from...

    Possible bug?

Yes, you're correct. There was a bug. It was sorting the column of scaled marks based on string comparisons rather than numerical comparisons. Bit of a silly bug, really. I've fixed it - thanks for pointing it out. :) For others who are interested, it shouldn't have had a significant...

    Aligning vs moderating

Yes. A 'modifier' is calculated on the basis that the maximum possible mark in the combined 2 unit English course (which constitutes almost the entire HSC candidature) should be 50. I haven't had time to work out the calculations behind this yet.<!--: maxE - the initial maximum...

    Interactive English

I went through the tour for my sister (who is doing the HSC next year) and I really liked what they had to offer... particularly the fact that they structure it so well. And the fact that they mark your responses for you. The only catch is that it's still just for one subject. Doesn't help...
