legal studies: does it scale you down?

In the past few years, the scaling for Legal Studies has been roughly average - neither positive nor negative. It doesn't really come into play at all.

    English: Avanced or Standard

Estel is correct with regard to scaling. You should choose the course that is most suited to your abilities.

You need to fill out a form for each group member, so the easiest way is to just send all the forms in together. :)

    Rank affecting UAI

No. Your moderated assessment mark will be set equal to the highest exam mark. Your exam mark will always be your exam mark. (And your HSC mark is the average of the two. See this flowchart.)

    Raw band cut-offs. (Updated: 15/09/04)

None of the above. :) It is an aligned mark of 90+, and a raw mark of X, where X is a raw mark above the band 6 cut-off for that particular course in that particular year. The performance bands have nothing to do with percentile rankings or scaled marks.

    Maths Seminar

We don't know yet whether or not there will be a second series of seminars. If they do go forward, they'll most likely be held the very next weekend (9 - 10 October). We'll publish details on the main site when we know for sure. :)

As I said... sometimes the mods accidentally let a few slip through.

    errors in resources?

Our mods let a few 'inappropriate' descriptions slip through sometimes... I guess that was one of them. Thanks redruM. :)

You can see the discount in the outline above (and in the registration form). It's not variable - just a flat discount for groups of five or more.

    Student Number???

I've never heard of such an occurrence... except perhaps in the case of non-recent school leavers, but they don't use their student numbers at all anyway. If in doubt, just ring the UAC.

    'Standardisation'

An extremely good question. :) It's just because of the way the general community (including your parents) perceives marks - for example, a raw mark of 49 in an extremely difficult paper might be quite good, but the vast majority of people will still (wrongly) perceive it to be a "fail"...

    Student Number???

It's your Board of Studies student number with a '1' in front of it.

    hrm, 47+ aligned?

Slide Rule, you've also confused UAI scaling with the Board's aligning procedures. See this flowchart for clarification. The only known raw band cut-offs have been published in this thread.

    hrm, 47+ aligned?

Silvermoon was confusing the scaling used for the UAI with the aligning performed by the Board. In 2001, a raw mark of 34/50 was required for an aligned mark of 45/50. Each year requires a different raw mark, depending on the difficulty of the examination paper. If your paper is easier than...

    Students Online

I said 'overtake', not 'override'. Very different meanings. Simply put, the extension students might have higher 2-unit marks than the 2-unit students. So, when the two groups are combined, some of the extension students might be in front of some of the 2-unit students.
