Mechatronic = Electronic + Mechanical + Computer
If you also like mechanics and computers, then go for the upgrade IMO. It's not like you'll be locked in to mechatronics for the rest of your life if you change your mind.
lol don't worry. If you only did 1 semester, they won't count your uni marks. It'll just be your UAI. I'm in the same boat as you, going from engineering to another program. It's written somewhere on the UAC website if you want to check.
If that's what you enjoy and want to do, then go for it. Don't choose your degree based on the name, otherwise you'll just end up bored and transferring.

mhmm...I'm surprised I did that well in maths...
I assume that if you Mechatronics at UTS or UNSW, you probably won't be studying at the USYD campus.
If you do Mechatronics, you'll have to do a lot of Mechatronics. This is the program structure:

Well...I think you need like a credit average just to complete the IT/Arts degree. I assume it would be a distinction average if you wanted to transfer. I wanted to do the IT/Arts as well, but the cutoff was like 97 this year.
QVB to Carslaw...lulz. That's for furthest my bus goes in the morning, and I don't feel like wasting money on a train when I can have a nice stroll through the city.
On campus though, I've never had to walk further than SIT to Old Teachers College.
Of course its possible. I doubt those are required for civil anyway. I also know a guy who did General maths and no science and is now doing civil at USyd.
Maths extension 1, physics/chemistry (depending on stream) and an interest in the stream you want to do (most important).
The cutoff depends on what stream you do, anywhere from like 85 to 99+. Although it is different for a combined degree and you'll still need to meet the cutoff for the...
lol...I'll have a think about it. I still practice on the heavy bag occasionally but I haven't trained with a partner for a while.
Anyway I'll probably join the sporting union because I want to get involved with the gymnastics. If I don't have any time/money for the Bronze, I suppose we can...
