    Which degree?

You seem quite passionate about doing something in accounting/finance. Therefore, I would go with Macquarie and transfer to UNSW after you have completed a year of study.

    3 lectures in a row..

No I definitely wouldn't recommend three lectures in a row. I've always believed that spacing out your classes or coming that extra day will help you concentrate better. At the end of the day, it could help you get higher marks.

First year student: Buying textbooks now or later...

I think its best to wait. Once class starts you can use sites like textbookexchange to get your books second hand. Another option is to keep track of your university notice boards as there will be students selling their books.

    Timetables?

First years enrol in 100 level units so I guess you're not at a loss. P.S How did you manage to get such an early time for on-campus enrolment, I did mine pretty much...

Re: do UNSW commerce people look down on Macq commerce people (honestly)?? Probably not because most of them are concerned about their study and futures. They don't have time to put down people from other unis

    Engineering Pathways?

I'm not sure what major would be best (hopefully another person can clarify this). However I can tell you that students doing standard degrees like Commerce, Arts & Science have to do first year core units. Some units in science overlap with engineering units which will enable you to attain...

    Engineering Pathways?

You could a bachelor of science (which usually has a lower ATAR cutoff than engineering), attain a good GPA and do an internal transfer into your desired engineering degree.
