Ahh interesting... for ppl in my year, actl1101 was done in term 3 which I thought was kinda late?

    How challenging is Actuarial studies?

Might be a tad biased here (even though I left) but I reckon the MQ degree is structured better than the UNSW degree. You start with an intro actl unit in the first semester, unlike UNSW who waits for term 3. This unit is pretty fun (for something about superannuation and insurance) which is...
  3. Q

How do I transfer into UNSW actuarial studies?

Note that you'll probably have to already be in actuarial to access 1151/1251.
  4. Q

How good are the professors at Macquarie for Actuarial Studies?

Completely wrong. In fact the English ability of the lecturers I had at MQ is better than some of the ones at UNSW. The person (not sure if she's still taking it) who lectures the intro actl unit is great! Maths staff is also pretty good, and the first year actuarial statistics lecturer is...

    Acturial

I'd say the market is decent compared to other things but slowly getting flooded - there's no such thing as zero unemployment. It is a much more popular degree than it used to be, so supply and demand means that not everyone can get an actuarial job, and that employers won't be throwing the...

    State Rank

person 2 may not be getting a state rank but i think is more likely to receive one (but it is possible especially in higher ranked schools - i have heard of 2nds internally getting an SR) they would have a higher raw unaligned HSC mark => higher in the rankings according to the 2nd criterion
  7. Q

    State Rank

only the internal rank affects state rank. If two people from the same school tie on the HSC exam but one is ahead of the other internally, then the one that is ahead should be getting a higher SR
  8. Q

    State Rank

handwriting (as a former state ranker)
  9. Q

Society and Culture Band 6 And Maybe State Rank?

No chance getting a state rank if you're not 1st sorry to break it to you. You should try to improve your practice exams because that's where the easy marks are. The 15 markers aren't too bad - you've just got to answer them effectively.
  10. Q

    Double degrees

You get two pieces of paper. Yes and no ish. Typical double degrees subtract 1 year from each respective degree ie Arts Law changes from what would be a 3 + 4 year program (if each were done separately) into a 5 year sequence. However, some things like Data Science / Law can't subtract as much...

    Psychology?

Have a look on the website for an in depth look. From what I know, it's something to do with medicare billing but I'm sure there's more to it.
  15. Q

    Psychology?

You need to fulfil the requirements for entry into Honours in order to complete honours, then compete for entry into masters (a lot of stages to get through). If you don't manage to get to the MClinPsych stage of things (as most people won't, sadly, as there aren't many spots available), you...

What is a wordy hsc subject with least amount of extended response

Society and culture also has 15 marker essays. Once upon a time I believe it might have had 12 marker essays.
  17. Q

    99.95

This is mostly a function of the candidature of the students who do that subject, rather than a capping of the marks for the subject alone. Remember that there are only about 50 students getting 99.95 in the state so of course, they won't be covering all the subjects offered. A 99.95 calibre...
  18. Q

    99.95

This is more a function of the cohort of standard English, rather than the scaling of the subject itself (scales the same as advanced - just much less common to get in a band 6 territory).
  19. Q

    comp sci, math or actuarial
