A State Ranker's Guide to Economics (Part 2)

Introduction Hey Guys, This is mreditor16, with the long awaited second and final edition of ‘A State Ranker’s Guide to Economics’. First of all, I want to apologise to you guys for the delay in posting this. It is clear to see that a lot of you have been waiting for this guide, as evident by...

    how to pay student amenities?

Yes that is correct. Now that Census Date has passed and assuming you put in the online form for HECS, the only amount owing on myUNSW should be the Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF). A good idea would be paying it on campus, anytime you're there for classes. Otherwise, I think you can...

How important is it to have the latest edition textbook?

A bit late to the party but also in addition to these posts, try asking your lecturer(s), your tutor, and seniors who have done the subject in question already about whether buying an edition or two back will be fine. That will considerably help in informing your decision.

How do you write a thesis when you get an essay instruction rather than question?

+1 - definitely! Regardless of how the question is phrased (whether as a question or a statement or a instruction), the fact that you need a thesis doesn't change at all! :)

How do you correctly apply ceteris paribus?

Overall, a very solid answer. However, with your bolded part, I think its better to say that "less overseas customers will need to convert their currency into $A" --> "Demand for the $A will decrease" ---> "the $A depreciates". I think its just more conventional (in this particular situation)...

    Full marks for working out.

In contrast to the majority of views presented on this thread, it is actually possible that you may get full marks for your answer if all your working out is correct and just your final answer is wrong (e.g. due to inputting incorrectly into the calculator). Its just that this happens very...

External Stability - is the Tim Riley book good at explaining this?

I would have to strongly disagree on that. Tim Riley's textbook is far from condensed. In fact, I would argue that Dixon's textbook is the more condense one. At the same time, I would not write off Tim Riley's textbook. It is a very useful textbook, which I encourage students to use in...

    Exam mark for state ranking?

I hope Photastic is referring to your overall HSC mark (the average of your moderated school assessment mark and your final examination mark), when he says "final hsc mark".

    Economic convergence???

Tbh I wouldn't worry about international convergence at all. The reason you bumped into that concept was because it was in the HSC syllabus prior to around 2010. Then, the syllabus got amended and that particular dot point actually got taken out out of the syllabus, because there was a lot of...

haha here we go again. did some trawling on the web - http://www.handbook.unsw.edu.au/undergraduate/programs/2015/3588.html "In addition, for Bachelor of Actuarial Studies students MATH1151 is a substitute for ECON1202, and MATH1251 is a substitute for ECON1203." Yayyyyy!

    UNSW Handbook - "Excluded"?

Also, on a related note, does anyone know if doing MATH1151 and MATH1251 can exempt me from either or both ECON1202 or ECON1203??

    UNSW Handbook - "Excluded"?

Hi Guys, I was looking at the different subjects needed to be completed for different majors. Now, take this as an example - http://www.handbook.unsw.edu.au/undergraduate/courses/2015/ECON1202.html It says "Excluded: ECON2291, MATH1011, MATH1031, MATH1131, MATH1141, MATH1151" What...
