Which of these units would suit me???

Affirmative... MQ's degrees are largely flexible due to self-selected class times, internal transfers, exchange etc. And provided you're not doing an EFS degree, you tend to have a number of electives to play around with as well.

    Estudent enrolling

never, EVER 'throw' your voice. That's how you get laryngitis and end up like me (being unable to sing properly or project my voice in any way for 4 months and counting. Dance teaching in a big hall without a mic is death.). With proper breath control, abdominal support and correct placement...

    Confused about timetables/Units etc.

The levels often roughly go with year of study, but not always (they're more indicative of level of difficulty... sort of). Especially if you have more 200-level units than you can fit in a year, then obviously you'll have to spread them over more than a year.

    Confused about timetables/Units etc.

The most important thing new students should do is look at the handbook. If you can figure out the online version (http://www.handbook.mq.edu.au/), great. If not, buy one from the Co-op bookshop. It looks like this: It's colour-coded on the side. I'll come back to this later. What...

    Confused about timetables/Units etc.

You're right until someone points out that the Pre-Enrollment sessions are on the SAME DAY as enrollment. Give me a few minutes to do some scanning, and I'll show you how to plan your degree... the key thing to remember is CORE UNITS (aka 'prescribed'/compulsary units) and PREREQUISITES.

    Anything replacing the SAM card?

Although summarised, that quote was kind of vertabrim... (almost?) Anytime someone says 'trust me', I'm slightly less inclined to believe them. Must be the John Howard effect.

What subjects will you be doing in 2008?

'Crunch Catering Services'? 'U Bar'? Oh dear...Why not just go the whole hog and do 'U-Bend Bar'? The Windows Explorer-esque popup side tab thingos are a) freaking me out by taking over the screen, and b) annoying to use. Cute 'grouping' but it doesn't seem very intuitive - I actually have to...

    part time or full time?

Can we swap jobs for a day? I've already cried once with laughter hearing about some of the stupid stupid people, I reckon a job trade would be so worth it just for the entertainment value alone...

    Anything replacing the SAM card?

I don't get why they kept "___ Spot". Obviously 'SAM Spot' is kind of cute, and 'U@MQ Spot' just seems really stupid. According to a friend of a friend on the 'inside', U@MQ has a lot of good things in store for us, but it's just that their marketing department sucks. I'm still not sold :/

I need to remember to either come visit the eStudent staff tomorrow, or email in that little help message thing :/

    Anything replacing the SAM card?

They say that if you yell his name loudly enough, he will spontaneously appear. NICK! Otherwise, apparently there are no union discounts outside the university campus as of this year onwards. Our union like, died, remember?

What subjects will you be doing in 2008?

EXCITEMENT! EXCITEMENT! THEY HAVE JUST UPDATED THE HANDBOOK FOR THE MAJOR I WANT TO TRANSFER INTO! .. I'll be right back. EDIT: who the hell is offering Dance units next year? Will it be like the 'Arts' units, that don't have a home? EDIT: I miss work. Life isn't half as fun without being near...

MQ Comedy Club and Magic Society

Hey Nik, All sorted out now, but thanks anyway :) Just about given up on Comedy Club as they are *that* hard to get a hold of (I've got a name, but need to do a 'background search' to get a hold of whatshisname's contact details... and Sandie's out of the country!) Just waiting for...

MQ Comedy Club and Magic Society

Yikes! Is it something else? I'm awful with names! I do remember it started with "P", although that was pretty obvious :/

MQ Comedy Club and Magic Society

Don't know... They've been notoriously difficult for me to track down. Either no-one knows about them, or the members have their names but no contact details. On the other hand, it was really easy to get a hold of Phillip here, AND apparently the President and Vice-President of the society...

MQ Comedy Club and Magic Society

Hi, Does anyone know anything about these two clubs (are they reasonably active?) and/or how I could get in contact with whoever runs them? I found the comedy club's myspace, but it doesn't tell me very much...

    Cigarette sales on campus

As an asthmatic who chokes involuntary at a whiff of cigarette smoke, I think I will definitely benefit from this. ... but why do I get the vibe that it's another publicity stunt? "Hey look, we're the Healthiest University in New South Wales!" I don't think this rule will cut down smoking...

    Macquarie Centre carpark

ouch there goes the "If you can't find parking, don't worry! You can always park at Macquarie Centre!" line. Here's to hoping that cityrail MIGHT, just MIGHT make it's deadline. Parking will be easier at uni once we have a decent train line running.

    Thai People at MQ?

My pleasure. You might also want to contact NCELTR - probably fits in better with the time line (NCELTR enrollments were pretty recent), and the staff there seem to be a bit more 'involved' with the students from what I've seen so you might get some better communication-to-the-public that way.
