    Math books.

I take 2/3 unit notes using lecture pads, tear out the pages and file them later. I use a normal ruled book for 4 unit notes (simply because it's a lot neater & quicker to read through). Grid book for exercises, because otherwise drawing graphs takes ridiculously long. For past papers/random...

    Advantages of high ranking schools

As much as I hate to admit it, I agree with iSplicer. Not only have you got much greater competition, which forces you to push yourself, but you also have a group of like-minded peers. Peers who are in the same position as you and have similar goals, whereas lower-ranked schools tend to have...

What is your 'Maths Exam' pen?

I hated those pens. I'd buy a brand new pack and have them all stop working within a week.

What is your 'Maths Exam' pen?

Yeah, I run through them pretty quickly so I've taken to keeping about 4-5 in my pencil case and just cycling through them. They're just so reliable though - I've only ever had one stop working before it ran out of ink, whereas with every other type of pen they'd stop working while half full for...

    Uni music degree auditions

Just out of curiousity - why aren't you doing music? If you're good enough to be thinking about trying out for the con or whatever, I would've thought you'd be doing at least music 2, if not extension.

85%!? Damn that's high. What if you're off sick for a month or two? Or have some sort of recurring illness?

    Integral of 0

Another way to think of it is to consider a function whos derivative is 0 - clearly, it must be a constant.

    Does this sentence makes sentence???

Not really, no. I can see what you're getting at, but you need to be clearer - I've always been told you should assume the marker is an idiot.

Question about 'showing' something is a chord

I just did it and it's not messy at all - quite the opposite in fact. When you find the expression for the gradient, simplify it before you sub it into the point-gradient form.

Yeah, exactly - they're not able to do harder subjects... because they're not smart enough to.

    Quadratic Polynomial Help! From Cambridge.

Part a) <a href="http://www.codecogs.com/eqnedit.php?latex=y=kx^2 \textrm{ has tangent }8x-y-4=0\\ ~\\ $Solving simultaneously, we have $ 8x-kx^2-4=0\\ $Now, for the line to be a tangent, it intersects the parabola at one point, so there is only one solution to the above equation, i.e. $\Delta...

Pretty sure the max weighting on a single task is 35%.

    what is retardation

It makes a huge difference - if it's gravitational acceleration then \ddot{x}=-\frac{k}{x^2} and if it's gravitational force then m\ddot{x}=-\frac{k}{x^2}. As far as I know, retardation refers to the acceleration caused by the resistive force, so it'd be the first one. I may be wrong though.
