    Rudd's "Education Revolution"

I'd argue that ranking is only important in year 12, when you're competing against everyone else for limited uni places. BUT in other years, there should just be outcomes-based reporting. So you have the syllabus indicator, then whether the student is working towards it, working at it, or...

    Rudd's "Education Revolution"

The new syllabus has more of a focus on reading a range of significant books from different cultures, which the current syllabus doesn't have. I do think english should be mandatory, because the syllabus is trying to teach critical literacy which is essential in everyday life so we know how...

    Rudd's "Education Revolution"

I just worry that all this "back to basics" is just going to make teachers teach their students to get good results in NAPLAN rather than being critically literate, esp since the myschool website. But I am excited about the new literature strand in english. Get kids reading some good books.

5,200 Australians bare all for photo shoot

Grant Denyer was reporting on it, and the naked people started chanting at him to get his kit off, and he did. And then he shook his willy at them.

    What have you eaten today?

For dinner I had souvlaki with pita bread and whatnot. And this completely orgasmic chocolate fudge icecream sandwich which involved two choc fudge cookies with vanilla bean icecream with nuts and fudge on top and OH MY GOD yum Eurobay cafe in Brighton.

What would you tell your parents?

That happens to so many people. They just end up with the feeling that their parents don't trust them, so they shut them off. OR they do what their parents want and live miserably anyway. I've never gotten that from my parents, so I have a good relationship with them. I know they trust me so...

What would you tell your parents?

Parents who lecture are the worst. Especially since kids never do what the parents lecture them about. Parents need to let their kids live their own lives and make their own mistakes.

    Parking @ USyd

When I drive to uni (not often) I park at Macdonaldtown station. It's a bit of a walk to uni but it's free and (if you park in the right place) untimed. Or find a friend who lives in Redfern. If I'm stuck and I ask the day before I can park in my friend's backyard on Abercrombie St...

What would you tell your parents?

That's awful. My parents and I are pretty open with each other, I'll truthfully answer most questions they ask. They trust me to make my own decisions and have never tried to control me. I've told them, "I'm going to Japan for two weeks" or "My boyfriend and I are thinking about moving out"...

    Homosexuality in Australia

So what if gay people got married but didn't have sex?

    Homosexuality in Australia

Um. No. Watch that Hungry Beast video. These people have honestly tried to stop being gay. The priest tried for some 20 odd years, he prayed and fasted and read the literature. He got married and had kids and none of it changed the fact that he is attracted to men. I'm sure he would have given...

How hard is it finding a job now?

I reeeeally hate it how most places don't even acknowledge that you applied. No form letter that says "Sorry, no positions available" or "Sorry, you're not what we're looking for". Nothing at all.

GAY CONVERSION EXTENDED VERSION | Hungry Beast Story about people who have tried "gay conversion" to make themselves straight. Not sure how long the story will be available to view, but I thought it was very interesting. It makes me sick that people feel so guilty about something they...

Issues of the LGBT community in Australia...

That's very true. Defining anything as between a man and a women doesn't take into account the broader spectrum of gender (something that was not recognised at the time of making the law, but society has changed markedly since then). Laws shouldn't be about men and women, they should be about...
