Re: Year 11 Economics Tutoring | UAI 99.40 | 94 Econ | Eco/Law in Uni | UNSW Econ Tut
The above responses were all solicited by me (full disclosure!) by these people who have gone on to do amazing things!!
Two students from the prestigious North Sydney Girls will be joining the year 11 class...
Hi Everyone,
My name is Sam. I am starting an Economics Tutoring class for Year 11 students who are ready to conquer HSC Economics!
My Qualifications
In addition to achieving 94 in Economics for the HSC and a UAI (old school for ATAR) of 99.40 I have:
Completed a degree in...
We still depend a lot on agriculture (10.4% of exports in the 06-07 period) and mining (34.7% in the same period) [See here] for our external sector. Most of this business is also conducted rurally so it would be folly to completely neglect them. While there are options like satellite to reach...
A greened exchange doesn't mean any one on that exchange can get ADSL2+ - in many cases there is infrastructure between the exchange and housing developments.
Also even if it did mean that anyone on those exchanges can get ADSL2+ - you're only considering Sydney, what about other major cities...
Copper can't last forever. The best time for the government to invest is when other companies won't invest themselves. Not only that - many people don't even have access to proper copper - me being one of them. Telstra, during it's later stage roll outs took to something called 'Pair Gain' -...
Unfortunately it's nowhere near a majority of the population that can get ADSL2+, and even if they could - most of them wouldn't enjoy speeds of 20mbit+ (too far from the exchange).
That and I think this fibre network will future-proof Australia for a hell of a long time to come - the...
Don't know a thing about distance-ed but I do know this:
No matter what any lecturer tells you, and no matter what the "prerequisites" have to say about Economics courses - HSC Economics forms a HUGE foundation of the first-year economics courses you will do (know that this is for certain in...
Couldn't agree more but I think there are definitely bands of UAI - not specific UAIs that relate to a certain extent to university marks. University marks may not correlate directly with UAI but there is a relationship in most cases. Certainly students who are able to understand the course...
Re: Talent 100 - Is it any good?
Slightly off topic but you know I think this is probably the most demeaning part of our high school education system. The HSC becomes a game that people can cheat by knowing tips and tricks and knowing essentially "how to play [the game]" (probably put better...
Solution to problem 1 here: (forum wouldnt let me attach anything over 97.7kb)
Handwriting is a bit messy but I'm sure you can understand it.

I'll admit it took about 12 minutes to completely get out - in the HSC they will be likely...
That question is a joke compared to most past HSC Q7/8s. We got something very similar in our 3U trials - so I'm hoping you posted that there to boost some students confidence.
I was going through the Law courses at both unis and saw that Usyd has a subject called Corporate/Advanced Corporate Law while UNSW doesn't have either of these subjects. Does UNSW have an equivelant and is it important to do such a subject if you want to practice law related to businesses and...
Mm Jaggar said mid99s for estimate, just not sure exactly how much I'm looking at and whether or not its even worth going all out for a 99.8 or something in that order.
Ranks for trials are as follows:
Economics 4th
Ext Eng 4th
Chemistry 18th
3U maths 4th
4U maths 14th
Adv. English 57th...
OK, I'm a student at sydney high and I want to know what my maximum UAI mark. My trials have been distorted by a freak accident in english so my trial mark is definitely a lot lower than it should be in the HSC, but here are my marks roughly:
Trial Marks:
Raw 98% for 3U maths
Raw 89% for 4u...
1.5 to 2 hours each night is way more than enough. I'm not trying to tell you to do study less but do not sacrifice your other subjects for the sake of 4 unit maths. Assuming you study a maximum of 5 hours each night, 2 hours should cover both 3 unit and 4unit maths on the same night.
And in...
