Dunno about commerce, but Im doing software eng at Usyd and its pretty good. It used to be true that the facilities were a bit outdated, but they just built a brand new school of IT building which opens next semester and they putting school of IT under Elec Eng now. So EE and CS will be merged...

    Interested in Computer courses

Software Engineering Man Winston Software engineering rules because it has electrical, physics in it. The amount of things you can do if you have a) electrical knowledge b) physics c) programming ability is massive and much more interesting. I for one like the current layout of the degree...

I suggest openoffice.org, its a hefty download but its a completely free alternative to office that should be able to open up 99% of word .doc files with no problems and has a export to pdf function built in that i use myself for uni work and which works perfectly

Yes Yes, all bars on usyd let you in during the semester, but they will check your id if you buy drinks. Im not sure how it works at night though. IMHO manning is the only slightly decent bar at usyd, wentworth is a hole (although they have an xbox in the corner).

    Books for Electrical Engineering

OO vs other types And object oriented has its place, its pretty good for group development work (which is what first year software focuses on, which sucks!!). First year software at usyd is nothing special.. hopefully second year will be better (although the title of the software course for...

    Books for Electrical Engineering

Java Yeah, java is the language for soft 1001/1901, and 1002/1902 well it was this year and i doubt they will change it. I think its because sydney uni has no prereqs or assumed knowledge for engineering, so they start off with a managed language that people will hopefully be able to pick up...

    SOFT1001

Um well. you dont NEED 3u maths to do first year maths courses, cos they essentially start at the very beginning and work their way to more advanced stuff, however if uve done 3u maths u would have covered 70% of the stuff before making it easy. So it does help but you dont need it if you are...
