    commerce international studies?

Nothing special. I wouldn't bother with it.
  2. R

    commerce honors vs commerce/law

Whichever one you can get a higher WAM in. That's all you need to know.

Would a double major in financial economics and finance a good idea?

Re: Sydney economics vs macquarie applied finance?? (im interested in finance) Yeah you're pretty clueless..

    Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Arts.....worth doing? :/

I'd say useful if you learn something actually useful for employment in Arts, such as languages. If you do something like Ancient History or Greek Literature, then I'm not so sure.

USYD commerce vs UNSW commerce PLEASE also consider my travel convenience.

Better for the top jobs in Commerce. Go for UNSW. You'll fit classes into 3 days so you'll travel less overall. USyd timetabling is very inflexible.

b.applied finance or b. applied finance/b.comm(proff accounting) at UMACQ

Just do Applied Finance and ace it with high marks. Don't bother with Acct unless you want to do accounting or not confident you can get top marks in Finance.

Someone explain if this is true or not.

You wanted to do internal transfer with a Credit average? It's not that easy.
  8. R

    mergers and acquisitions

Comm Law only if you like Law enough. Otherwise you'll do much better with straight Comm with high marks. Don't worry about actuarial, just do Finance. You'll kill your marks with Actuarial and the banks do care a lot about marks.

If you could have any of these "3" degrees which would you choose???

Option 1. Assuming you don't get decent marks (HD) in your other options. Otherwise they are the same. Option 3 is a bit fluffy though.

UMACQ B.applied finance/B. proff accounting VERSUS B.economics USYD

What kind of job are you looking for? Academia - ANU. Otherwise - USyd. Actually make that UNSW
  11. R

    investment banking

You see, with prestige, they can afford to pay slightly lower.

Why do people look down on UTS business so much?

This is the important question. JPM Ops isn't the same as JPM IBD.
  13. R

UWS B.comm (adv leadership)/B. laws vs UNSW B.economics

Forget the UWS course. Go UNSW B Eco, do well then transfer to the degree you want. Simple and all angles covered.
  14. R

Why do people look down on UTS business so much?

It is true. However prop trading is often classified under Investment Banking Division which covers Trading which was what I was thinking. Prop shops excluded. Things like prop trading needs a lot of prior preparation for a job so they often attract very specialised people so it's not as...

    usyd commerce vs unsw commerce?

If still in doubt, UNSW is the answer to your questions. Don't feel forced to go to UNSW if USyd is really a lot more convenient for you to go. Otherwise, pick UNSW.
  16. R

Why do people look down on UTS business so much?

The question is what is a "financial analyst"? Some person working in say a Big 4 Bank? Or someone working in Goldman Sachs Research? Basically anything but investment banking is not considered super competitive for Finance roles.
  17. R

    Tough decision between 2 degrees

BIS if you have to choose between those two. Commercial Law leads to pretty limited job opportunities IMO.
  18. R

Will Investment banks hire "macquarie students"???

This is correct. She's in Communications in a somewhat PR role. Not investment banking.
  19. R

    Help me decide?

Mate, you're 18. Go to uni and get a cadetship should be your top choice. Otherwise do accounting full time and ace your studies.
  20. R

    Help me decide?

What do you want to do in the future? How old are you? I would choose No 2 but that may be tough getting a position.
