    Snow Leopard

    That's the whole point. A 160GB hdd, which would appear in 10.5 and Windows as 149.7GB, is now accurately reported as 160GB because of the way SL calculates disk size, and hence you get extra space.

    I'm sorry? Snow Leopard Reports Hard Drive Capacity "Correctly" (in Base 10) - Snow leopard - Lifehacker Please do your research before you try to defame someone.

    Snow Leopard

    Incorrect. SL now calculates hard drive apace on base 10 rather than base 2. So for every kilobyte, you gain an extra 24 bytes, multiply that by 1000 for megabytes, then by 1000 per gigabyte, then multiply by hdd size eg 160gb. That's the reason you get lots of space back.

    Nsw digital revolution {laptops for niners}

    Well it's up to the school. They get enough for every year 9, plus several extra, like 20% or something. It's the school's choice what happens with those, whether other students get them, or the staff that didn't get a T1 machine get the S1 lot.

    What Anti-Virus Software Have You Got?

    +1. I use my own Unix install based on the Darwin kernel. Compared to Windows, it is insanely secure.

    School Netbooks are here!

    Did your teacher happen to have the resolution set to XGA using the desktop icon? You shouldn't need to scroll if the screen is at native res. Lenovo already provides equipment for the T4L (Tech 4 Learning) program, hence why school computers are provided by Lenovo. The fact that the contract...

    Well, that's exactly the line of thought that landed TPB in their current problems. The site itself is only a tracker, and it indexes files hosted by the community. http://techgeist.net/2009/06/the-legal-pirate-bay-is-a-brilliant-idea/

    Nsw digital revolution {laptops for niners}

    Our school has just received our lot of laptops, and they're shipping with Windows 7 RTM. On the one I played around with, Aero runs fine, but because of the screen resolution, there's a link on the desktop to change to XGA res, because the Adobe CS4 suite doesn't like running on a tiny screen...

    New Computer parts

    I'm not sure if Prime95 will work in Windows 7, after all, it was written for Windows 95. While you're at it, why don't you run 3DMark and PCMark? They're the industry standard for benchmarking PCs.

    New Computer parts

    The Core i7 runs using triple channel RAM, hence needing RAM to be installed in sets of 3. Typically, peripherals don't change much; an older keyboard and mouse still do the job.
