    General UTS chit-chat

Re: The UTS 'Secks and Welcome To Your New Mod!' Thread I think an Engineering campaign would actually be quite effective. The Enrol To Vote campaign that was run in semester 1 was really successful in raising awareness (free BBQs tend to help? haha), and as far as I remember, lots of students...

Re: The UTS 'Secks and Welcome To Your New Mod!' Thread Then go to the SA and start a campaign to raise awareness. I'm serious. The service is there and free for all students. Use it.

    General UTS chit-chat

Re: The UTS 'Secks and Welcome To Your New Mod!' Thread Where did you get that idea from? On a subject like renewable energy (if we really want to go down this path, then let's go down it for a moment), everyone plays a part in the solution. Engineers have the technical expertise to solve...

    General UTS chit-chat

Re: The UTS 'Secks and Welcome To Your New Mod!' Thread That is very disappointing to hear. Unfortunately, few students from ANY university actually know what their SA's and Unions provide, and many aren't particularly compelled to find out, which only adds on to why so few students are...

    General UTS chit-chat

Re: The UTS 'Secks and Welcome To Your New Mod!' Thread If Musk's statement is anything to go by, then "corrupt" and "journalist" somehow has relevance in this debate. To wit: "Actually you know whats the most corrupt thing about you lot, you say you support renewable energy whist none of...

    General UTS chit-chat

Re: The UTS 'Secks and Welcome To Your New Mod!' Thread 1. Is it really necessary for you to keep referring to us as "c*nts"? Stop hurling abuse. It's not necessary. 2. The SRC/Student's Association represents students at a state and national level; during elections, the student body elects...

    The CIE Hotline

Will the stuff I learn in CIE (or any of the compulsory subjects for that matter) be of any use to me in the future? I seriously hope not because I've stopped paying attention in lectures. :\

Great places to eat and fun things to do near UTS

Is there a microwave on campus? The one that's meant to be in tower building near the vending machines isn't there anymore:\

Re: The UTS 'Secks and Start of Autumn Semester' Thread Random question: does anyone know where I can buy optus phone credit near broadway campus?

    Lecture notes and transripts

I went to UTS online, clicked on the course and then on course documents and I still can't find any of the lecture notes/transcripts, even though my CIE and PCA lecturers said they'd all be up by today (and yesterday). :S

    The CIE Hotline

Lecturer: Theresa Tutor: Nicola Verdict: ambiguous (painfully ambiguous), boring, oh god why the hell did I enrol in a communications degree. Subjects like this make me want to cry. Please tell me it gets better >_< </complaining>

    General UTS chit-chat

Re: The UTS 'Secks and Welcome the New Students' Thread I found CIE incredibly boring and ambiguous. And is everyone in communications always so serious?

    Ah ok then. Thanks:).

    uts online

Hi, I just entered the uts online website for the first time today, and under 'courses', it only says I'm enrolled into three subjects. Is this the same for anyone else doing humanities? Because I checked my student admin and everything and I'm definitely enrolled into all my subjects, but in...

    HSS Faculty meet & greet

The welcome day was alright I suppose... the student speeches were amusing - I'm not sure if the dean would approve of the last girl's speech though. A few of my friends put down all morning sessions and got afternoon sessions. Tis a bummer. I got all the morning sessions.

Developing Academic Language Skills - complusory workshops for UG

I don't think you're screwed if you don't go, because the people who are running that have workshops on during March that you can attend which focus on things like essay writing, referencing etc. I found out about that here: http://www.uts.edu.au/div/elssa/ Uni starts on the 26th of February...

Developing Academic Language Skills - complusory workshops for UG

Did you find it useful? And did they specify whether UTSers are expected to use the Harvard or Oxford system of footnoting? And where are we meant to go to attend the sessions? Thanks:)

wht sex means to u??, (not referring to gender)

Urbandictionary tells us that trolling is: Being a prick on the internet because you can. Typically unleashing one or more cynical or sarcastic remarks on an innocent by-stander, because it's the internet and, hey, you can.

    Communications:Roll Call!/Getting to know you!

I only spoke with 1 girl at enrolment; our conversation pretty much died after 10 seconds, lol. I'm a good conversation killer. I'm pretty nervous about the course because no one from my school is doing it and I only vaguely know one girl doing it. Ah well. Oooh, who do you know?
