German is one of the easier languages at which you can become proficient - once you know all the grammar, the only challenge is the vocab and even that is not too difficult a task - you'd be amazed at the number of words based on/borrowed from English! I love it!
Re: Question to the grammar girl...
I would tend to use "fertig machen", however, the way you have structured the sentence is indeed correct. With seperable verbs, the "ge" bit goes inbetween the prefix and suffix
Another question - If I don't get into my first preference, ideally I'd like to transfer, but one of the conditions of the scholarship is that it is "not transferable to another degree program, except with the permission of the Dean of the Faculty receiving the transfer".
Assuming that I...
I did French and German for my HSC and I'd love to pick up Italian. I've discovered that I can major in French, German, and a science and then do Italian if I have room
I'm hoping to get into B Liberal Studies (International). I got 98.95, so hopefully I'll just sneak in - I have a feeling it is set to rise a lot, but if I miss out, I'll be really happy to get into Arts Languages - do you think it is over-kill to do 3 languages? I have other interests, but...
This is for an Access Scholarship (which I found out about exactly a week ago) - I applied for a University of Sydney Scholarship as well, but got knocked back on it. On the application form, I specified my first Sydney preference, but it's only in the case of the USyd scholarship that the...
I have just sat down to fill out the forms for accepting a Sydney Scolarship and am not sure about something....
When it asks for your "Degree", bearing in mind that the scholarship has to be accepted before the uni offers come out in January, do I just put down my first (Sydney) preference?
From the looks of things, there must be lots of happy people out there! I got:
English (Advanced) 87 B5
English Ext 1 41 E3
Mathematics 93 B6
Maths Ext 1 45 E4
French Continuers 94 B6
French Ext 47 E4
German Continuers 97 B6
German Ext 46 E4
and I'm really relieved!
Mambomeg - my EAS application has been accepted at Sydney and UNSW (the two unis to which I applied), and I have a feeling I'm heading down the same track as you. My first preference only has 20 places, and a 2003 cut-off of 98.7 (which I'm sure is set to rise!)
How did you find out the...
Well it seems that this forum is a bit quiet - and has been since early November, so I thought I'd come and make a post.
GUTEN TAG!!
I've just finished my HSC - good old German was my last paper, but if there is anyone out there doing German, I love grammar (yes, I know it sounds sad!) so...
In January of 2002 after the first lot of "new" UAIs came out, my school hosted a BBQ for the old Year 12s whereby if they told the teachers their UAI, they got a free sausage. It was a miserable flop, so they didn't do it again, but I thought it was pretty funny anyway!
I've done the HSC this year with 12 untis (i.e. 2 will not count). On the 18th of December when we get our results, will the scaling be such that I'll be able to look at my marks and automatically be able to determine which two of my units have not been counted, or will I have to wait till I...
Just as I suspected - my school is VERY stingy, although we get a $25 book voucher for being in the top 10 of the year. Don't get me wrong, I'm not ungrateful, I just think that it's not the best thing to be aspiring towards a piece of paper - but then I guess that's what money is!
