on something unrelated, asq, i passed through Asquith yesterday, as I was far far away from the comfort of my eastern suburbs home. So now I know where it is :D

back to law, if you get a diploma, that means you can be a solicitor or barrister etc? Wouldn't an LLB hold more weight though?

grad dip of law is enough to practice i think
i know, i think u only need like 70uai or something. basically its like tafe in conjunction with usyd, like u get to use their resources and stuff...and i guess it qualifies u to be eligible to become a solicitor and barrister, but there must be something wrong with it..i think its meant for mature-age students or oldies :p

lol, pigs: I dont intend to become a practicing lawyer...just have the legal background to benefit me in my business career
(so I'm weighing up whether I even wanna do Law now if I get in, or later)

why don't u just major in business law then? i mean it'd save u two years, and if u don't wanna practice law, why bother with a law degree?

A whopping 0.05. :p

Well, places weren't reduced at USYD, so there's no real reason for there to have been any significant increase in demand at UNSW.

Mmm and USYD fee still has vacancies, whereas UNSW doesn't...

i just watched this flash...

http://www.student.unsw.edu.au/myunswDemo/local_accept_part1.html

in it i had to choose btw accouting/law, finance/law, commerce/law etc... wtf?
i thot choosing majors was during enrollment?
wots going on?... how come accouting/finance/commerce are under the same heading... i thot accouting/finance are majors within commerce
You're right, accounting and finance ARE majors within commerce. I think you'll find the actual list to be different to the one shown in that demo - if you check out the virtual handbook (now online again), you'll see that as of 2003, the accounting/law, finance/law etc programs have been subsumed into the commerce/law program.

I think they showed up in the demo because the student was transferring (and hence would be in second-year or something along those lines).

Don't fret. ;)

last year it was meant to be 99.5 ...however unsw made an admin error and let too many people in ...ie why it stayed at 99.3

inside goss says it will 99.5 or 6 this year ...with usyd at 99.7 or 8
Note to self: do not believe any of asqy's "inside goss" :D
