for question 25 a i) shouldnt z = 624 , as u change it from months to weeks..

or should i have just multiplied it in months? cos if u do it in weeks he cant afford the car..

fuck, may have lost more marks from that mistake.. or am i right :S
that question plagued me to... i sat there for ages trying to figure out which way you were supposed to do it, cuz i knew i had gotten a similar question wrong before by doing it the wrong way, but i couldn't remember which way was right...i just ended up multiplying by 12 tho...

Why would you change it to weeks... because the spread sheet was annual you only had to multiply it by 12

With Question 26 a).

wouldn't the answer be 2009 because it says "In December each year, beginning in 2006". Therefore its from

2006 - 2007 - 2008 - 2009 (3 Years)

You must of started from december 2005?

no if it was 2 it wouldnt be under 120,000 .
it would be at 121,500

therefore n = 3

u are missing the point, read the question

"In december each year, BEGINNING in 2006, the value of the printing machine is DEPRECIATED by 10%.........

meaning the depreciation started in DECEMBER 2006,

the question is saying that in december 2006 it is 10% less. not it starts depreciating by 10% every year since december 2006 thats just absurd

A product begings to depreciate as soon as it is purchased!

In january 2008, the machine is worth $120000

if S = $120000
and Vo = 150000
and r = 10%

the 120000 = 150000 x (.9)^n
so 120000/150000 = (.9)^n
then n = log 0.8 / log 0.9
hence n = 2.11790489 years
0.11790489 = 0.11790489*100 (to get to a percentage of the year)
= 11.79048899 %
11.79048899% = 11.7904889/100 x 12
= 1.414858679 months.

hence approx 2 years and 1.415 months later S = $120000

in dec 2006 - s = $135000

It is a very poorly worded question - probably to cause some people to question their confidence --> hence allowing them to make an obvious mistake. they're really slack ass bastards - damm BOS
in dec 2007 - s = $121500
in jan 2008 - s = $ 120000

therefore the year = 2008

Aww hell no, i got $15.50 for the very last question. I think i divided 3100 (read from the graph) and divided that by 200. Whst did everyone else do to get $23?

I reckon it was really poorly worded as well, I mean during 2006? if you think about it, the effect of 15% interest being taken off only really happends at the end of the year not "during" (unless it happend monthly"

i just put 2008 anyway

well, according to these marks i got about 99 raw mark :) .. i got 25 a) i .. the Z part wrong.. but in ii) i did it correct with my working.. so i should get full marks shouldnt i.?!

and drop 20.

selling 200 tickets means C = 700 + 12 x 200

C = 3100

to make a profit of 1500

C + 1500 = 4600

4600 / 200 = $23 :)

Find the cost to host 200 people, which I think was $3100.

Find the ticket price to break even at $3100. 3100/200 = $15.5 I think.

Find the ticket price to make $1500. 1500/200 = $7.5.

Add the two together, $23.

Wasn't the question asking you to find out the formula for finding the cost of each ticket?

So C = 12x + 700 / how ever many people (can't remember)

??
nah, it was
"Write a formula for the cost ($C) of running the dance for x people"
