Does anyone know if they change the timetable much from year to year?

like how was last year's timetable comapred to this years - is it very similar?

cause it would be AWESOME if it was similar next year, as i would have no more than one exam every two days

No they're different every year.

The organise them so that the courses with heaps of people in them don't fall at the same time. It's why they don't release the timetables until midway through the year. So they know how many people are in each course.

You can guarantee English will be first and MX2 will be on at the same time as Mathematics, but other than that there's really no way of telling.

There are some trends, Physics and Chemistry fall in either the first or last week. This year CHem early, Phys later.....last year Phys early Chem later

That's generally for speaking.

yeah my teacher said that generally the subjects with more candidates are in the first few days ie. english, maths, sciences , but of course other than english, these are shuffled around based on the unique subject combos of the year group

Another consideration is which subjects are being day marked rather than nigth marked as that also impacts on the available spaces at Homebush and so affects the order of the exams.

Generally the larger the candidature the earlier the exam but not always. Another consideration is the number of Multiple Choice, Short answer questions compared to essay responses as MC are computer marked and short answer responses (1 - 3 marks) are often only single marked due to there being a limited number of right answers so no real judgement is called for by the markers. e.g. Business Studies, with the third largest candidature takes about 10 days to mark compared to Modern History that takes 15 days. As a result planning the marking process is also considered when planning the exam timetable (of course it is done using computers these days but the computer has not only the number of students but also these other factors (and I am sure more as well) to consider.)
