I don't doubt that, but not to get too side tracked, but don't you find that interesting? In that Labor voters tend to favor a large state - until it starts snooping into their personal lives. Whereas liberals would generally favor a small state - but I get less outraged at this sort of thing.
i don't think this is an accurate assessment, and is probably coloured by your own political preferences. my point was that the kind of people who would really be up in arms about this issue (i.e. it might affect voting preferences) would probably not be mainstream voters; they'd vote for the greens or a fringe party. my point was not that there is any real difference between labor and liberal voters in regards to attitudes towards state surveillance and intelligence gathering, especially considering both parties have socially liberal and conservative contingents. it might be slightly ironic that supposedly "small state" liberals have few qualms about intrusive programs such as these, but both parties presided over the expansion and administration of the AUSCANNZUKUS agreement, and there hasn't been a discernible difference between either party on such matters for a long time.

the majority of people who would really care about news of american internet snooping were never going to vote for the liberals, or were always going to preference labor over liberals, anyway.
I find this both derogatory and offensive

Abbott is the ultimate wrecker. Who was it that opposed the economic stimulus during the most challenging economic circumstances since the Great Depression- the leader of the Opposition. There is not much point in the Liberals coming in and telling us they want to do something about unemployment when they opposed every measure of the Rudd/ Gillard govt.

The reason that they want to do something about it is because it is abysmally high. We are only .25% off the high of the GFC for goodness sake. Swan and Bowen claim we have low unemployment, and the public suck it up, but the reality is quite bad.

You can see the failed stimulus policy was really only that, keeping people in jobs for a year before the unemployment rate rises again. I imagine that if we didn't have the unprecedented cash rate easing we would have broken the 5.75% level in the past year. I mean if we are running deficits can we at least reduce unemployment too?

And Abbott wasn't even leader of the opposition when both stimulus packages were started.

This completely validates my view that Australian history is not being taught properly in our schools.

mate you need to take a trip to the US or to Europe. i just got back - 50% unemployment in youth in spain/greece, LA is full of bums on every street corner, 40% of UK workers eating into their savings on a monthly basis to pay food bills. sorry the world isn't as rosy as the australian media would want you to believe.

Condescending Rudd at his best lol http://www.news.com.au/national-news/nsw-act/prime-minister-kevin-rudd-is-under-fire-after-he-was-filmed-patting-the-head-of-a-disabled-woman-on-730-report/story-fnii5s3x-1226677298993

Its only a matter of time before people get sick of him. Hes showboating around, posting instagram photos, appearing on every tv network and making claims these miraculous 'positive economic policies'. Rudd is off the Papua New Guinea next week, something tells me he isnt gonna call an election anytime soon. Expect the election to be on November as Rudd still wants to be PM during all the summits that are coming up and hopefully get a seat in the UN after the election if he doesnt get in

Rudd is going well. Not because he is great, but because he isn't absolutely shit like Gillard was.

Rudd is a great campaigner/ very good at governing in the short term but in the medium term such as in the 2016 federal election Rudd would be tired and struggling with the fast pace of Australian politics. I think Bill Shorten is going to take over from Rudd in the 2016 federal election.

Rudd attacks with positive agenda.
Labor is forecasted to win the 2013 federal election as outlined by Poll Bludger (the aggregate poll of Newspoll, Essential Research and Morgan) winning 77 seats in a clear fashion;excluding the support of Greens MP (Adam Bandt), Labor Independent MP (Andrew Wilkie) and Katter's Australian Party MP (Bob Katter). Labor now has 50.5 per cent of the two party preferred vote and has won the distribution of seats throughout Australia. The Rudd govt wants a 2 per cent annual productivity target. Rudd at yesterdays Press Club address said that Australia doesn't have a budget emergency and that debt levels are both low and sustainable.
