Creative writing.. am I the only person who would prefer to be told what to write?

It starts off good, and I'm like yes yes yes!

..and then it derails, and I'm like no no no!

I feel like I need to dress my writing up, and then it looks OTT, but when I tone it down, it looks too plain.

Trying to help out someone with maths and I've basically shown them to do ALL THE HARD PARTS AND THE REMAINDER SHOULD BE EASY ENOUGH FOR THEM TO DO so they can do it themselves rather than me type it all
