Wait. I might've misinterpreted what you said.

Actually squaring a number is much harder and whilst I know a trick to do it, I haven't trained it enough yet.

And you wonder why sometimes I don't reply to you. Hate to sound rude but too often you're being a nuisance despite at times you have a point (e.g. arrogance leaking out of me).

Who is you? I ask to satisfy the question of you responding inappropriately.

Why? I would love to study your argument and de-construct in such a way that you will think twice before posting a bold claim.
More like he is trolling stupidly.

2 is a dud.

It depends, if it's a 3 digit number only about 5 seconds, 4 digit maybe 10, 6 digit probably 35

I do take about a minute on a five digit one though, especially if the square ends in the number six.
_____________
3 is nothing more than the fact that 25*4=100.
_____________
And there's of course that x * 6 = x * 3 * 2 (do multiplication step by step in head).

Adding large numbers is like Fn, not really significant
Awesome

I misread. Nevermind.

What's with people and mental arithmetic skills?

I prefer mental algebraic skills. Identities are bae :inlove:

e.g. Sophie Germain's Quartic Factorisation Identity
Mental arithmetic makes life easier. Where I need algebra unless it's trivial I prefer the proofs of the results; not the actual result typically

Why can't I like this?!?!

Btw everyone, I'm an alt and unlikely I'll be coming back. One-day test on what kind of people roam a particular thread that may have high activity.
