alignment is the changing of the mark depending on the exam that will determine what aligned mark and so will determine the exam. scaling is about each subject there is a definite list somewhere but the top 4 scaling is like e4 maths e3 maths chem phy you get the idea

Alignment: Based on difficulty of exam
Moderation: Where ranking plays its part and you get your ranked assessment mark

Then your raw aligned mark gets averaged with your ranked assessment mark, thus deciding your final mark
