I lost the link, but there was a pretty funny analysis of the rampant fascism in the film primarily through the depiction of Spartan society rofl.

Its a popcorn film, no more, no less, I don't think anyone involved thought it to be anything more than that and for what it aims to do, it does it well I think.

But narrating what we can already see?

It really fucking irritated me.

I loved it! Wanna see it again. I don't bother with this "is the storylyne gud??!" rubbish, etc. If the movie's entertaining, the movie is good.

My thoughts exactly, if I enjoyed it thoroughly then it's a good movie.

(will see it anyway)
Bad video game with dubious political motives. Probably stunning visuals. Will probably make teenage boys wet themselves (easy to cheer for one side, oozing with homoeroctic overtones and good looking stylised violence).

If it's anything like sin city I'll probably think it's more cool than great

I might watch it on DVD :\

but still, i reckon gerard butler's might be real. and maybe even david wenham. coz i heard they did have some intensive 2 month work out thing specifically to build the abs. probably 5000 situps a day or something. dunno.
that was seriosuly the largest collection of tanks i've ever seen in a movie.

No actually, I heard from an interview that they went through some training to bring out the muscles that were already there (ie getting rid of fat). So all the muscles you see there are all real.

Except for the fact that when editing, they placed the light so the abs are more prominent etc.

And as for entertainment-wise, I never said it wasn't entertaining :) I watch movies for entertainment purposes yes, but I also want to hear a story, I wanna get lost in it. Blatant narration hurts the imagination.

So was Spiderman, Sin City, and V for Vendetta...

Anyway, the more I repeat myself, the more I sound like I hated it, in which I don't!

Overhyped.

Visuals were all awesome.

Script was shit.

If I hear another Hollywood America will conquer all speech I'm going to spew.

Edit: Sin City and V for Vendetta are two of my favourite movies.

Horay! You've entered my speciality!

It's by Tyler Bates :) Same film composer who did "Dawn of the Dead".

The trailer had Nine Inch Nails "Just Like You Imagined".
