4 texts in 40 minutes is preety dumb if you think about it (1 Viewer)

For me personally my word limit in 40 minutes sits around 1200 mybe 1250(but then its getting preety illegible).

Now that works out at 30 words a minute. So if I take out 6 minutes for planning and introduction and 4 minutes for conclusion that leaves 30 minutes for the texts of the essay.
If I spend even time on each text then thats only 7.5 minutes per text or 225 words. Which is only one medium paragraph for EACH TEXT.

Now this just isn't adequate, so surely the BOS can't state atleast 2 related texts and sit back thinking every kid in the state can do 1400 words+ in 40 minutes.
Anyway thats the end of my rant

in my trials i had pre-prepared my creative composition so i wrote it in 20 min and i was able to save myself 10 min in the first section....

That meant i could spend 70 minutes on that essay.. but i still f***ed it up (11/15).. ironically enough, i scored 14/15 on each of the other sections

Something that should also be considered is this:

The Board is NOT requiring you to go into absolute, utmost depth about 4 texts within 40 minutes. All it's really asking you to do is to present a clear, sustained piece that analyses about 4 different texts over 40 minutes. You're not going to be able to go into huge amounts of depth - so don't try/complain about not being able to. Pick the most important and/or relevant points and do the best job you can.

haha i remember the first time i came to these boards i had this epic argument with asy about time in english exams that had me hating on him for about 6 months.

moral of the story: it's fine how it is.
